Split NCB and insurance

Hi all
I have recently had my lease scheme through work finish, and I was on that for 5 years. Insurance was included in this scheme, as an all in package. I have a banger that I want to insure as a run around, but because all my NCB is on the Gransport, they want more to insure this banger than they do the Maserati. I have heard that I can contact the insurance company of the people we lease through, and get a letter to say that I have not had accidents etc. Just wondering what people's suggestions are on how to deal with this, as I have also heard that some insurance companies will apply your NCB to 2 cars if you insure them both with them. Thoughts and suggestions welcome.

It was 10 years ago but I did the same, left a company car scheme. I got proof of no accidents from the scheme and used an insurer that would accept this in lieu of a NCD.

Try Admiral. I am insuring two cars with them in my name and when I added the second car they mirrored the NCD belonging to the first one, on the second.

depends how old your banger is, but another way is classic car insurance, normally anything over 15 years, I had an old and very reliable audi 80 sport I ran on a classic policy for only £120 and ncb proof is not required on classic policies

Unless you go for a multi-car policy I don't think you can have the NCD on two cars at the same time. You can get a letter from your lease company which might get you a premium reduction but it won't be an accruing NCD. Classic insurance policies rarely have NCD so that might be an option but I think insurers are getting stricter on what they deem as a classic, you are more likely yo get the GS covered as a classic than a banger maybe

Multicar with Aviva still want separate NCB on each vehicle.
When I came out of a company car, a letter from my employer stating 15 years accident free was enough for Aviva to accept. Renewal letter now states 15 years NCB
My other policy was a classic car policy originally that didn't require any NCB, however when I bought the Maser that didn't qualify for a non NCB policy, the insurance company just accepted the previous 7 years no claim on a classic policy as NCB anyway!
There really isn't any rules to it all.

I used wife's Ncd of 9 years when I bought a second car as I was the named driver. Just got a quote as due and Cheaper than using the 1 yr that I accrued in my name.

Get a letter from the lease company confirming your driving record. Talk to insurer or a broker and ask for an inttoductory discount if you have 5 clean claim-free years (usually 30%). This is not a NCD. It is an introductory discount. After 1 year claim free with the banger, they will award you 1 year NCD. You build it up by car on the banger.

If the Maser is on its own policy, and it's built up its own NCD, then you should be able to use the afore mentioned letter from the lease company to use the 5 claim free years on the banger, but have a look at the multicar option, it worked cheaper for me (although I didn't take it!)
