There's scope there, a forum funded car or part funded at least. Thread .. We need new tyres again! £50ea please. :p
The regulation Tyre Toyo do a 285/35/20 so assume that will stretch on (reading from a recent past post) not sure how long they will last lumping round 1800KG
On the other side how many go and watch racing and get bored, different game when your there supporting fellow members.

Wouldn't entering the Alfa Twin Spark Championship be a better (more cost effective) starting point.
I looked at entering a couple of years ago and calculated that a season could be done for £10k per car (as long as you didn't bend it too badly).
plus whatever it cost getting to and from every meet.

1make series cost more than you imagine, firstly the chance of accidents area greater as cars are well matched and secondly a lot of time and money goes into finding that edge.
You also get more proper teams involved who have years of knowledge on top of you.
Cases of let’s buy 5engines dyno them all and flog the lesser ones etc

Why not start with karting first...baby steps...
Karting isn't cheap neither lol, im fortunate to have the option of 3single seaters to race if I want but I've done it for years and don't fancy the hassle that goes with them. a change is a new challenge.
Please don't think im saying this after sponsorship (although welcolm to sponsor if you like lol), just seeing if anyone who wanted to go racing and do a 50/50 shared drive.

what's his thoughts on 10K a year budget. bet he laughs with a sign of pain in his voice lol

With the TS Championship, all you can change is the air filter, ecu, and exhaust on a 2 litre TS engine. This keeps costs down.
All cars have to have the same size wheels and the tyres are all the same.

Obviously you then have your choice of car. 145, 146, 155, 156, 147, 166 (bit heavy).

It's supposed to be a budget (if anything is motorsport is cheap) way of getting into racing. Obviously their are other faster cars in the race as there are different classes, but the TS Championship is the one with the most entrants. Someone like Bianco Motorsport will even build, maintain, and transport the car for you to each race.

Limitations on the amount of new tyres you can buy ? What’s to stop me buying 16sets and skimming them to minimum regulations , new rubber with less flex. 16sets x Xamount ?
That’s racing lol

The TS category is all about entry level and cars do seem very similar in performance so its down to the driving. There is always some degree of movement but as budget racing goes its a good starting point.

I love motor racing and would love to be involved but I have seen so many people start out on a strict budget only to get sucked in and spend everything they have trying to get the extra fraction of a second. One of my mates use to run his son in Karts, Bambinos nearly broke him but his son won the championship so a move up to Cadets and that was the end of all his spare cash, without sponsorship the money needed is frightening.

I would love to get into motor racing but doing in in a Maserati sounds like financial suiside and well out on my league.
There is a little series that race Austin A40’s - you can get a race ready car for less than 20k and race costs won’t be completely bonkers - but even that will have to wait a year or two.

I will be an enthusiastic supporter if you get this off the ground though - so good luck

I’m not saying it’s a bad way but just from what I’ve come across it appears that 1make series is a case of if you want to race and run mid to back then that’s where the quoted budgets will get you at best, the front boys spend the cash and probably more than an open race series (when I say open I don’t mean free for all) Most people think single seaters is mega money and I’d almost bet that most here would say your talking 100s k ?
I ran my own car in F4 (club level) and won 2011 championship with a car that cost me all in buying and rebuilding 8k and the yeasts budget of around the same (inc 1.5k worth of damage) who here would believe you can go and be a front runner in a single seater in under 10k a season ? (Compare that to the low budget single series tin tops) I then stepped to a single male single seater championship, went in with 40k running cost o_O. Lasted 2mins lol.
I’m not against 1make but it’s just a good way to start, if you want to go in and think you stand a chance you need a lot more than the entry level quoted.

How about we put in 500 a piece and take it from there. We all buy brake discs etc. Why not? ‘You hum it I’ll pay it!’
Sponsored by PG Tips and SportsMasarati
At 500 ea - twenty people would raise 10000. Forty would raise 20000.
How many in the Brakes order group? How many want ARB's? Nobody in their right mind can afford to race on their own. We don't have James Hunt. We don't have a Hesketh but we do have the power of the group. And our pages are sponsored by those whose best interests are us!

Power of the group dictates it would need to be a Maserati. I’m in with 50 % and pit crew looking promising so we’re on the way.

Has anyone here tracked there car with lap times ? Would be interesting to know the start point, any time/track condition/driver experience etc would be helpful.
