Springtime 4200 Upgrades

Springtime cars and wemon great days, anyway the help I can give is I purchase another set of 18" from the car dismantlers (wreckers) I paid $1500. AU and set them up with a set of Nankang AR 1 just for track days. At my club track, my best time was 44 sec. straight out of the box the car dropped 3sec. These tyers on eBay were $1200. great grip for the money. Any R spec tire will give great gain. Also at a different track 250KPH Top Speed they picked up rubber which meant I had to re-torque after 10 lap runs.
The Falkens are not a bad tire, but I'm looking for more grip on the tight turns. We'll see how they behave with the suspension upgrades - I've abused them for about 200 miles at the track already, so they're likely ready to go after one or two more runs. A spare set of wheels/track tires would be a godsend, but the logistics don't work out - nowhere to store them. Michelin Pilot Sports seem to have quite the reputation on this forum, so they're next in the cue.

Here's one of the two local tracks here in Seattle from last year, with the only mods on Coupe being Sport Cats and DBW. Max speed on the straightaway is about 140mph/225kph my last two times. Not likely to get much more than 145mph due to the track orientation, but that's plenty for now, as it dives right into a downhill turn that tests the brakes almost indecently.
Would enjoy a video of your tracks if you've got them, as well as any tweaks and tips for optimizing for track day.

Those tyers on the video are making a lot of noise, usually road tyers. the R spec just grip

Yes, my tires are on the list for replacement, they’re definitely holding me back on the corners. They are simple all season Falken Ziex. Definitely not of the caliber of the Michelin/Continental/Bridgestone sport tires.
At this point, I’ve already spent more on repairs and upgrades than on the car itself!

Continental ExtremeContact Sport tires in order for install on Monday.
Thanks for the push. I can’t wait for track day! Will take a fresh video to compare how it handles the corners with objective data, vice just my confirmation bias justifying the expenses.

Track day cometh. While I am quite rusty, the Coupe stepped up and made me look good. Took a full 3 seconds off my lap time which I can confidently attribute to the improved cornering.

The exhaust sounded glorious, the video hardly does it justice, but enjoy what you can.

3s a lap is sensational, good work

I found that the updated skyhook ECU has helped the mid corner and exit stability. Check what p/n is printed on top of the one in your trunk:

Thanks FIFTY, I’ll check that out in the morning! (23:00 out here on the Pacific)

I estimate I can take another 3s off with more proficiency and consistency. One of the other cars on the track with me was at that level, and when he was in sight, I could match his pace, using the power of the 4.2 on the straightaways to regain time lost in my amateurish cornering. The skill will come with practice.

Of course, if the equipment can help achieve that more readily, I’ll give it a shot.

One more unplanned upgrade courtesy of an unexpected work bonus: FD ECM upgrade. Just received, soldering it in tonight if I can duck out of house chores and such.
Too bad the weather turned sour or I’d be out at midnight “testing”!
And. FIFTY, I’ve got the later version of Skyhook ECU, so not much to be gained there until a full shift to KW3s.
Track day next Thursday, let’s see if we can shave off another second or two!
