Yes, it's a solvent free (water based) contact adhesive, looks like PVA but must be a latex base. I got it from B&Q in the work top section for sticking the Formica edging on. About a 75ml toothpaste tube with brown label.

That'll be the one... I did help it along with a hair dryer as it softens the leather allowing it to be 'smoothed' and in particular to get the returns to stay put.

Note: The old glue on mine was pretty much concentrated on the top flat strip and the lower return folds where it could be picked off the leather in clumps! also I used a 1/4" flat screw driver to tuck and press the returns.

Hi Newton,
I didn't remove the centre cap. I just pulled the old cover out (by the way I don't think the te original is actually leather some kind of faux). When replacing I just used a blunt flat implement to push the new material under the cap.

I was just wondering if you had figured how the centre badge is attached as it could help others.

Hmm. Don't know if it is leather or not, mine certainly looked pretty convincing on the back side; don't know though...

I don't know how the centre cap is fixed, I didn't want to mess with it as I thought that it might be an integral part of the the deployment.
I still have the original cover so might take another look at it, but I definitely thought that it wasn't leather when I first
Removed it. The leather content of a my 4200 is a a lot less than my 3200. Maybe I I just assumed, but will check again.

Totally agree there is an awful lot of what looks like leather but isn't in the 4200, door pockets & dash top to start with...

My conclusion was as follows:
Seat facings only, front and back are leather, together with the headrest side and back, rest synthetic leather.
The top facing of the rear arm rest leather when folded down only, rest synthetic.
Middle door trim, the bit with the side airbag is leather, top of door trim surrounding door lock is synthetic.
The grab handle running back to the red door warning light is all leather, lower panel with speaker is synthetic.
Middle dash, with air vents, clock, surrounding info centre is leather, the lower dash, glovebox, centre console, armrest, all synthetic.
Handbrake gaitor is leather.
Top dashboard and steering wheel synthetic leather, including a, b and c pillars, rear shelf.

It's actually easy to tell, the real stuff has a random pattern and creases when pushed, the synthetic has a uniform pattern and does not crease.

So actually the bits with most impact are leather, the seat facing, and the interesting bit of the middle dash board, the door trim with the feature stitching.
The bits that are not cause the most problem if they were leather, so a bonus really that they are synthetic, like the dashboard top and top of the door trim.

I think they did a nice job actually mixing real with synthetic.
Cheers.

Ok I've checked yes unless they are making very thin cows these days, the pockets are double good faced! They must be synthetic... :(

Well that was OK :)

Before:

During: Not a *trace* of any glue. Don't think it's leather, either.

After: Not *perfect* but I'm happy with it :)

Looks like a job well done there! Someone said the material would need to split - from what I've seen of drivers airbags most appear to hinge at the top and bottom so the material doesnt need to split - is the maser different?

I didn't look that closely, in honesty.
I'm going with the age old DFC [1] attitude ;)

Grinzz, it does split as there is a weakening line like a soft w across the back of the plastic. The whole plastic cover is fixed with 8 big rivets!

Good! Also not entirely convinced about that glue, especially around the back, but it's be easy enough to whip off again :)

Yes but it is quite strong, evostick cat be too agressive especially if it is feux leather as it can dissolve stuff!
