I've been reading about this over the weekend. It's back to the 60s/70's with a marriage between Citroën and Maserati again. That era produced some strange fruit, the SM, but some nice things such as the Bora, Khamsin and Merak.

Picked that up too. Thought it will mean some interesting dealership changes, the article I read hinted that Maserati would be grouped with Alfa.

Saw it earlier and now see shareholders have approved the deal, interesting times but to surprising that Alfa & Maserati will be grouped

You mean Maserati as a lesser brand will be grouped with Alfa. FCA seem to make lots more money selling Alfas than Maser's!

I take it that by grouping, they will become a company with their own Profit and Loss structure within the Stelantis organisation. That means Alfa will have to build a Mito replacement as small cars have a larger market appeal.
Alfa have pitched themselves against BMW 3er /Audi A4 with the Guilia but they still need two smaller cars to go against the Mini and A3.

In Australia Maserati cars were sold through various dealers in each state until recently when Maserati Australia cancelled all the previous dealerships and sold directly. It was a big leap forward as Maserati are now client friendly and doing their best to fulfill clients' expectations. Just hope Stellantis leave this good innovation in place.
