Still Looking

All good things take time...

Here I am, on the forum when I should be working, looking at the sunshine and wishing a Gransport was parked outside...

Having done the man-maths and Car Nerd Evolution game (ie. how to talk yourself up from a Morris Minor convertible to a GS in five easy steps, via Caterham, DS, Alfa and 911...) I'm keenly hunting 'the car'. A nice chap who knows about these things is on the lookout for me. Seems that most of the cars coming up for sale are silver, black or light(isn) blue. I'm after darker blue or green (tan or black inside). Clearly not many about.

I've noted how friendly and informed the owners on the forum seem to be - and love the photo-essays of folk dismantling and fettling. Very encouraging, even for me (my tool kit consists of a hammer and, er, a bigger hammer. Years of Ducati ownership have made me believe in The Force when it comes to these things).

I've even had a pleasant surprise on the insurance front.

So. Just need the car. Before it starts raining all the time. And snowing. Sod the cameras and potholes...I want a Maserati. What a lovely word to type.

Good man! Glad you haven't been let down by the maths, and judging by the mechanic who adjusted my suspension geometry, a bigger hammer is just what's needed.

Indeed.

And enjoyed your slides on fitting the hands-free kit BTW. I once posted a story about parking my GS Beemer in a tree while (ill advisedly) attempting to off-road the bugger - got heaps of abuse for not providing pictures. Good to see you guys snap as you go!

You are hunting and i am dreaming of a GS.

Green is a great colour but very rare, Woody is your man for colours and i think there is a colour thread on here from a few years back; if i remember correctly there is only around 5 Green examples, it looks stunning with tan interior.

There's a dark metallic green GS usually parked on The Embankment in Chelsea. The owner had a 3200 in a similar shade before that. Jolly nice.

I know it sounds obvious, but check the autotrader and pistonheads sites every day for new ads - there might be something which comes up at a reasonable price, and if you put in a good, quick offer you might be pleasantly surprised!

The early bird gets the worm, and all that! :)
