If it's the same design as the 4200 I am led to believe the metal ball runs in a cup cast into the alloy arm. As it's only there to allow adjustment for castor(?) it is deemed to be adequate. The rubber bush at the end of the threaded bar wears and causes play, so it might be worth finding out which part of the joint has the play. If it is the rubber bush you will have to source an alternative part as neither the threaded bar or the bush itself is available from Maserati. If you can't find a bush you may have to buy the whole lot for £450! I haven't heard of anyone being able to refurb them, but if you do find anyone, please, please let us know! Good luck.

Reading this thread, I thought I apt to share that my GT-S has a very slight vibration at speeds in excess of 130mph which is especially noticeable once you get to 150-160mph. I find this very annoying in my day to day commute ;)

In all seriousness, this was noticeable on my recent trip in Europe and I wonder what's causing it? Ive had the geo double checked and its spot on, I doubt its the diffs or driveshafts etc as its not engine speed related and only shows itself under very high speed conditions. It feels like a slightly out of balance wheel so it'll be interesting to see if it's cured when the new wheels and tyres are fitted but after that, I can't really think of anything else as it's not like I can get Graypaul (or anyone, including me in this country) to replicate it!

Anyway, the point of this post is this question...I thought an out of balance wheel would make itself obvious at much lower speeds...has anyone experienced where a balancing issue could be appatentat only much higher speeds?

Like I said, it's obviously impacting on my day to day enjoyment of the car And aplogies to the OP for the thread hijack;)

There is a post from Klive "Rear Trackrod Ends" dated 25-05 2010 that details one method of repairing them. In addition to this I know that Bill McGraths have them repaired and I think Emblem do them as well.

Sounds rather like a similar scenario that a 3200 owner had some years back , after exhaustive diagnosis of wheels tracking tyres etc they found the the propshaft was out of balance , worth having it investigated ,its not uncommon even on newish cars # there are a couple of specialist firms that specialize in unusual vibrations

my 3200 had identical symptom, car would veer to the right under hard accelleration. Over in UK this actually helps in any overttaking manouevre!

The issue was "assymetric thrust steering" - meaning one wheel deflected under load. In my case worj lower wishbones. Got one new one fitted and the other one reviewed. Full 4 wheel alignement (only by experts) which needs a kit of shims. Car now drives like a dream.

Other potential causes/contributors-
damaged suspension- broken spring / stuck actuator/ leaking damper
odd rear tyres:- pressure / manufacturer / tread depth
general tracking or alignment (only full 4 wheel check / adjustment will help here)
