Well, we're getting through this year PDQ it seems - so if anyone is interested in displaying their fine Italian car to the public at Castle Combe please post a quick reply nominating your vehicle.

I have spoken with the organisers and they are prepared to allocate the club a display area, depending on numbers.

For anyone not familiar with this event it is the 21st organised by the Stroke Association and the public are offered the opportunity to see some fine cars close up and to view or ride as passenger on the track or a slalom course . This course is also available for drivers to use their own vehicles to try for FTD! (You too can experience a 'Formula 1' neck!!)
I have also enquired about chauffering on the track and if anyone is interested and has relevant experience there may be a possibility but solely at the organisers discretion.

This explains it better than I can:

I did the event in 2009 and took a dozen or so out in the first Maser.

Away again this year but well worth doing your bit for charity and a good day out.

Just a quick update:

I gather that the list of track drivers is not yet closed so if anyone would like to offer themselves and their vehicle for track rides it's not too late!

Sorry you can't make it this year SAFRANE. Like you say, it's an interesting day out and a really a worthwhile cause, I believe they raised serious money last year!

I regret leaving my camera, flask and sandwiches at home last year 'cos I would have liked to post some pix of the many interesting cars that were there.

Hope you will take your camera if you can dodge work Nick in case I do the same again this year!

Updated vehicle entries:-

Alfa 33

Maserati 4200

Alfa GTV6

(There's a space for your Bella Motore)

:goodmorning: Hi Guys,

Just a reminder that there's only 24 days to go now!

So, if you're undecided, Come on, there's lots to see and do on Supercar Saturday with a selection of over 70 cars ontrack.

Remember that super car you always promised yourself a ride in? :auto11: - It may well be at the event.
Treat yourself-or the missus, or a sulky teenager - and the youngsters can help by claying and polishing your car paintwork :) -
ready to park in our club display area!
If you're not tempted to venture ontrack just enjoy a chat with the drivers about their cars.
Have some grub or a drink in the paddock cafe!
There were some cool drift car demos last year, especially popular with the kids!

Now the latest squeal is:-

1. We're confirmed a club display area in the paddock for our super Italian cars.

2. Anyone involved in competition driving a racing chariot? (not necessarily Italian).
Well the organisers have a few places for driver/car combinations in this category.
If you would prefer to static display your Bella Automobile da competizione there's space available within the club area.

3. To date just 3 souls have posted to attend. so it's a Masser 4200 :clap1:, an Alfa 33 :clap1: and a 916 GTV. :clap1:
- but don't you think that the public would also like to ogle some sculpted Alfa carbon fibre and names like Giulia, Alfetta, Sud, Giulietta, GTA, Arna, Montreal,
GranSport, Merak, Ghibli, BiTurbo, Bora, ... special etc. etc. as well as these fine vehicles?

I have been given a link to the Bristol Motor Club slalom event which features one of the two Alfas which competed at last years event.

http://bristolmc.org.uk/susatsolo-profile/
http://bristolmc.org.uk/stroke-slalom-exp/

Having no pride I had intended revealing my time in the second Alfa as an easily achievable Alfisti target for 2015.
Sadly :) the data was lost in a computer crash ------------ UNFORTUNATELY TRUE!

So, how about finding out whether your Twinspark Alfa is more 'chuckable' than the 3 litre version?? FWD versus RWD.
Me versus You an' your tub'o'Lard :road_rage-28: -- Oops! -- p'raps not.

Finally, we're getting a bit tight on time to notify how much display space is needed. :auto15:
Remember, it's open to ALL the SportItalia marques and benefits a very worthy cause.

In passing, here's another link I was given to the website of one of the ontrack drivers attending this years event.

Hopin' to see y'all there .... :swing:

:clap1: G'donya AlfaMuppet!
Nice car, there's nothing like a 4x4 Alfa!
I once owned a 33 Giardinetta 4x4 and bitterly regret selling it.

HeyAndy that's an easy one .......
A quick trot down the motorway to 'Combe early morning with the boys, back early afternoon for the Birthday celebrations! Everyone happy :)
It would be reassuring for us to have a Moderator there in the morning as Nick can't make it 'till the afternoon and we're likely an unruly crew. :argue1:

Mike and I are up for this. What time do we need to be there? We will be taking either the 939 spider or a 159 [depends on the weather]

:clap1: Hope you bring the 939 - Hood down through the Brynglas tunnel with 7K on the clock - @ 50 mph of course! but watch for the unmarked fuzzcars if you're using the M4 ;)

'Combe gates open at 9am with track rides at 9.30 and slalom action from 10.00am. It would therefore be good to aim to be parked up by 9.30.

That gives 'Sports......' 5 cars offered for display. An Alfa 33 (afternoon), a Maserati 4200, an Alfa916 GTV 6, an Alfa164 Q4 and an Alfa939 Spider (or 159).

Well, I've been asked to finalise numbers to the organisers by Monday next so if there is any more interest in displaying please post before then.

I'm sure that there will be many more coming for a fun day out to spectate or take a ride ontrack. There is catering onsite.

Current link to the event is https://www.stroke.org.uk/events/sporting-fundraising/supercar-saturday

:swing: Ciao!

Hi Guys,

Update:

1. Have just this morning received more information and I'm still negotiating with the organisers for
a display of our 'bella macchina Italiana' in the paddock area.
This will make it a far more 'chummy' gathering than the alternative of being scattered around the public car park!

Looking at the previous posts we currently have 5 firm offers of vehicles.
These will receive free gate passes for car and all occupants if we can organise the £50* fee for a club paddock parking area.

Normally our members would be arriving and paying their £5 PER PERSON entry fee, which does not go to the charity.

What the organisers have suggested to us is that if we can get *10 cars paying the 1 occupant entrance fee = £50
= jobdone and everyone blissfully happy as it also covers entry to all the people in your car and the paddock fee goes entirely to the charity!

Late arrivals and early leavers should have little problem with access, subject to the usual care within the paddock.

2. There may be modest prizes for FTD Alfa and FTD Maserati in the Slalom event, watch this space.....

3. It's up to you now guys to post your intent and vehicle - PDQ if you want to take advantage of these opportunities.
We need at least 10 definite 'count me in's'

:swing: ciao!
