Top of the morning from a cloudy Cape. School run, an argument with a parking warden who didn’t know his stuff and now time for a relaxing coffee. We will see where the day goes from there.

Morning all, Christine is heading south today for a couple of weeks working with me. Hopefully I can get on top of my winter blues which have struck early this year!

Have fun all…

Bought a new SAD lamp yesterday. Only £18 from everyone's favourite on line retailer. Tech seems to have moved on quite a bit. I shall report back

I would say fly to SA for a summer solar boost but that does not seem to be a popular option at the moment

Good luck with that, Newton. What did you think of the lamp you got last year; any use?

Morning, all. Just another Monday. Not a manic one. Shame. That Susanna Hoffs would do me the power of good this morning.

Morning all.
Back from lovely weekend away with family in Devon. This morning lateral flow test positives rate is about 15% of participants so far.

Cheers guys; Yes I did buy a lamp last year and it did help, the trouble is I've spent much of the last month on admin at home and didn't think I needed it. Last week however I was coming back down theM11 from Leeds and realised I had wet cheeks for no apparent reason.... That is when I realised I'd messed up, lamp on now in the office. I have a couple of weeks on the road to look forwards to too.

Hello everybody!
What a pretty sunrise this morning. A bit of working today, a bit of sorting through nonsense at home and getting the tree up, and a bit of kickboxing.
300 miles yesterday with snow and ice all over - I was chuffed to have switched tyres on Saturday; the AMG was great fun for the final blast home on the country roads.
HapPea Monday! xXx

Morning all. Bit of a chilly start this morning. Or 'Big Coat weather' for you northerners.

Not sure what the day has in store. But I'm sure it will be joyous! (bit of Monday morning optimism can't hurt).

@2b1ask1 light therapy glasses. If they're good enough for Mick...

It was an article in The Times today. Here: https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/cant-get-no-sun-mick-jagger-uses-light-therapy-9dkprx790

Extract below:

According to recent figures, roughly three in every hundred people in the UK suffer from severe depression during the winter months. Though it remains unclear why there is a connection between the seasons and mood swings, there are a number of light-therapy treatments available for SAD.

The Royal College of Psychiatrists says that light therapy aims to increase exposure to light during times of the year when there is less natural daylight. One of the most common treatments is a light box, or SAD lamp, which is used to mimic outdoor light. They do not emit ultraviolet rays and are therefore less damaging to the skin or eyes than the sun. Additionally, it is thought the rays from light boxes can reduce the body’s production of the hormone melatonin, which helps to control sleep patterns and is used to treat insomnia.

There are, however, some side effects. The Royal College of Psychiatrists says that symptoms include headache, nausea and blurred vision, but that: “Fortunately, any side-effects are usually mild.” It adds: “It is usually best not to use a light box after 5pm because you may then find it hard to get to sleep.”

An alternative is light-therapy glasses. Dr Brandon Peters, a neurologist, said: “The idea is when worn over the eyes, like a visor, you can deliver the light at a lower intensity than a light box.”
