Isn’t it only a concept though so the real thing will not like like that surely.

I don’t dislike the new car but I can’t help but feel all the manufacturers/designers are holding back.

With the lack of a need to accommodate an engine, surely we should have a change to the overall shape of our vehicles? think that they believe our little brains couldn’t cope with it, in the way that our fathers/grandfathers couldn’t cope with the futuristic looking Ford Sierra replacing their trusty Cortina. I’m sure the Sierra would have been called the early 80’s equivalent of woke.

If you look at the general style of a pre-war car and a post-war car, you can usually see a massive difference in design - I think we should be seeing a similar jump and I’m just not seeing it at the moment.

That’s a fair concern, but worth remembering that Jaguar are not doing this in their own. Their parent company JLR made £2.2bn in profit last year on sales of 431,000 vehicles/revenue of £29bn. They have almost no debt and free cash flow of £2.3bn.
They say the way to make a small fortune in F1 is to start with a large one, and similarly if Jaguar miscalculates the rebrand then the impact on JLR's balance sheet could be significant and long lasting, as could be the reputational damage. A number of industry experts have expressed doubt about the rebrand and I'm sure they're not all fools. IMHO it's also rather strange for the MD to say that “We don’t want to necessarily leave all of our customers behind" (my Italics) which seems to be code for 'Don't care if we do', and if you depart your existing customer base for the brave new world you're scr3wed if it's not as you expected when you arrive!

The Annual Report states

"As part of our strategy, we have created a House of four distinct brands: Range Rover, Defender, Discovery, and Jaguar; each with its own DNA and unique interpretation of modern luxury, and our modernist design philosophy."

On current showing the Jaguar DNA seems to have been somewhat diluted if not abandoned, so it will be interesting to see just how/if it will be supported by the new model when it finally arrives.

Looks can be deceiving, their current EV offering is absolutely **** when it comes to economy, I think power conversion and mechanical loses are the big killers with EVs

The drawings don’t do it justice.

If it bears more than a passing resemblance to that when (if?) it actually lands in 2026 I'll eat my hat. I mean silly stuff like the suspension clearly can't move.

This is one of the things I just don't get about EVs. There's no ICE...no fuel tank, no etc. etc. And yet the designers still feel the need to make it appear that there is. That gold thing that Phil posted above resembles nothing more than this:

Your pic is of a Stutz, they may be gross but the big names in the US all had them. Elvis, Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr, Jonny Cash, Lucile Ball, Muhammad Ali, Shah of Iran. If Jag can get the likes of them into their new car they’re onto a winner!
