Recognising that the Lotus Emira is generating interest on the forum with a few potential owners, I thought it'd be good to create a dedicated thread.

I was reading about deposits and they have bloody loads which is not surprising. If you believe what you hear a 1000 on day one of Goodwood and that doesn’t include the rest of the world etc….I think there may be a long waiting list for this car and some hefty premiums for the first cars I bet by speculators.

Yes, I've heard the same from various sources. By the way, for anyone who wants to submerge themselves in discussion about the Emira, one of the better sources is The Lotus Forum (known as TLF), just search 'Emira'.
There's also a massive discussion against a Pistonheads article with over 1,500 responses, I can't ever recall this much interest in a car.
I suspect you're right about early cars commanding a premium. I'm just pleased I got my deposit in a month before the launch.
Still a lot of detail to release about the car.

Seen pics with and without. But to have the option to expose the mechanism allows for individual taste.

I think it's pretty cool, when it's all new, clean, and shiny, but maybe not a few years down the line when it's dull and dusty

The one at Goodwood did have the mesh cover, and the first thing my friends said was can it be removed!

Just had the manager of the new showroom in Ashford call me (it's been open 8 days) I'm booked in for their dealer launch in September/October.

It was interesting to hear that each dealer is getting an initial 50 cars. How many dealers are there?

He said, some long established dealers have sold their allocation already, as they are so new, whereas he has most of his left.

Think they have 26 dealers across the UK now.

Will there be a convertible in due course ? I saw somewhere that there won't be, but maybe some of you have discussed it directly with Lotus.

There's a Lotus Channel 4 doc downloadable at the moment if anyone's interested which features this new car, it's a decent watch

Watched it thanks, those bonded aluminium chassis used to be made here in Worcester. Then Lotus bought the company and moved it to Norfolk.

It's impressive stuff and watching it you realise what appears to be comparatively new tech, has been championed by Lotus amongst others for many, many years

I imagine it will have to have a cover of some kind for a safety rating.

Perspex or glass cover would be better than mesh. Without a cover of some kind you can see either small childrens fingers getting crushed or phone charging cables. Lets face it those cables are expensive ;):lol2:
