Projected costs:

Ferry, car and two passengers: £75
Hotel night one, two sharing: £90
Hotel night two, two sharing: £90
Gite per head 4 nights B&B: £200
Race tickets each: £75
Parking for one car at the track: £30

Spending money, its quiet boozy the first two nights travelling down so budget for £100 a day per head
Then once your at the gites, you hardly spend anything, so £50 a day will more than cover it.

Fuel, about 4 tanks, so two each based on 2 sharing plus the tolls will be about £50 for the all of it.

I'm holding you to 4 tanks of fuel. My car used a third of a tank in 50 miles the other day! :)

We are going to shake things up this year as the format is well trodden now:

Ferry, Dover/Calais on the Tuesday mid morning
Hotels and route on the way down, we will be staying in two new places and possibly going South of Paris this time.
Thursday night, there will be no BBQ at Les Blot - instead we may organise a BBQ and night out at the Rose and Crown in Le Lude
Friday night, head into Arnage. I am considering pre organising transport in and out for this.
Sunday after the race, group dinner at Restaurant L'Auberge des Isles on the bridge in Le Lude

Thinking Lille for night 1, its a most excellent place and Blois or Orleans for night 2, its the next major town up the river from Saumur.

Blois:

Other changes for this year is at Les Blot, we will be moving the communial drinking, eating and smoking area round to the patio infront of the pool. We may also return Cherbourg/Pompey too as the outbound journey is quite long this year making it 600miles in France total driven.

That's a long drive to Le Mans, we are doing the short trip Portsmouth Caen overnight so will have a gentle tour down on the Wednesday

Day 2, Lille to Blois would be 4hrs...keeps them out the pub!

Sounds good to me.

One thing to consider with Lille as a potential stop, there are load of tourists in summer so accommodation may be expensive, also the parking near the town is mega expensive for what are public multi-storey car parks.
And of course you get a lot of English people in Lille as you can get there direct by Eurostar.

Can my return be to Calais?
