After all the French won't want you staying too long ;)

I won’t be wanting that either. Hopefully, the Covid thing will be keeping the CESMs in their little hovels, apart from the key workers selling beer and BBQ supplies of course. The rest can do one, especially Les Flics (Cochons Noir).

More of an issue might be the threatened tit for tat quarantine in France, so 4 weeks isolation for a 24 hour race that you can’t go to!

14 day quarantine coming back from France is back in then
Also reciprocal 14 day quarantine upon arrival in France is being introduced in a “tit for tat” move as it was last time as reported by the BBC this morning.

unless you live there like Phil and I do, I suugest you stay in the U.K. put your tent up in the garden and watch on Eurosport!

Going to have the conversation with Brittany Ferries on Monday, wish me luck but we may lose it as we can still travel on it. Maybe they will cancel it

I think we should be prepared that we may lose our money on that one.

I know the girls in the office very well so I’ll see what can be done.

Should be able to move to next year. I have a credit to move when dates and times become available.

For those of us that have missed our annual dose of this awesome event, the original Le Mans film with Steve McQueen from 1971 is on BBC2 this afternoon.

zero plot as they hadn’t written the script when filming started, and the fall outs between McQueen and the investors are legendary (read French Kiss with Death book for the whole story). But..... the driving sequences are amazing and more so when you know it’s all for real with real drivers and cars (Except the crashes where Lola chassis were used on mock 917 and 512 bodies) no CGI and lots of risk. This is how David Piper lost his leg!

Film was panned at the time but now a cult classic.....enjoy!

never noticed before but in one of the traffic queues at the start there’s a GT40 on the road.

Won't be the same but you can watch the race for free this weekend. If you have Amazon Prime then you can sign up for a 7 day trial of Eurosport through that and the whole race is on. Watched a bit of free practice this morning and it was very strange to not be there and to see the empty grandstands.

There's a few of us that usually go (no more than 6) going to a mate's house to sit in the back garden, drink watered down lager and eat baguettes on Saturday!

If you are in the area, the Hotel de France In La Chartre is the way to get closest to the action this year. Drink in the bar surrounded by LM memorabilia and photos with the race streamed live.

I watched the Thursday night practice last night on Eurosport and got thoroughly depressed and angry about not being there... My usual routine is to arrive in LeMans thursday afternoon, and we usually go to the Porsche Curves around 9pm to watch the night practice with a big box of beers and some vin rouge....

So last night I opened a bottle of red wine, drank it all, then fell asleep on the sofa after a couple of whiskies! This at least meant I woke up this morning with a headache similar to what I would have had if I was in LeMan.
