Have read/ heard the "on the Ball" story quite a few times from various places. No idea if its true but I think the origins of the companies beginnings following the 1891 Ohio rail crash seem to ring true at least.

Good summary of the back story here:

Info on the Kipton Ohio rail crash:

Interesting as this all may be, I just like Ball for how they are built/ look and the glow from the tritium tubes :)

Absolute accuracy of mechanical wristwatches is a bit irrelevant these days anyway with the very best consistently achieving maybe a second or two per day. Still impressive for a bunch of cogs and a spring mind.
Quartz being many times better, but there are clocks out there that are accurate to less than 1 second in 15 Billion years!

Not the prettiest things on the wrist though

What do you guys think of this ? Came across it today and thought it was so cool… apparently it’s a 1971 Seiko pogue..it’s defo been worn but it’s a 50 year old watch so that has to be expected
A nice find, was it languishing in the bottom of a drawer?

Playing on fleabay tonight and ran across these. Seems a chap is closing out his business and is selling almost 1000 high-end watches by auction without reserve. No doubt some will go for big money, but there are so many, there may be deals to be had. Here is a link to one that will help you find the rest.
Have fun!

I paid a lot less than that for mine, which is still going strong. They do seem rather spendy, some of them.

Can't find it off hand but happy to have a look if you're looking to save several hundred quid...

Well I never.. I didn’t know a contraption like that even existed - I guess if you’re too lazy to wind your watch and Alexa can’t do it for you, you would need one of those

Or, if you like to be able to chose a watch in the morning and not have to set it. Yes #firstworldproblems but laziness is hardly an issue.

I'm looking to buy the Mrs a watch for her birthday, and she likes the Omega deville.
Was looking at Montblanc as an alternative.
Not sure which would be a better watch at around the same price approx £2.5k.
The Omega that is a quartz, and has the name, or the Montblanc which is a new name in watches, but an automatic.
Or any other similar styled watch?
