I have always liked mechanical watches, had quite a decent collection, but have recently slimmed it down to an Omega Speedmaster, Rolex Seadweller and an IWC Portuguese on the basis this covers all bases.
However, I’ve always wanted to find a relatively cheap daily wearer that I could wear for pretty much everything but still enjoy. I’ve bought a few but been disappointed.
Much against my better judgement, I recently succumbed to the prolific advertising of Forge & Foster and bought a 42mm automatic Paragon on a rubber strap. It has 10atm water resistance, sapphire glass front and back and a very reliable Seiko movement. I’m not a huge fan of their skeletonised watches personally, but I liked the simplicity of this design being reminiscent of AP/Patek/Hublot but without being too much of a copy. The price - €160 delivered to Portugal.
It would be an understatement to say I’m very impressed. I love it and it hasn’t been off my wrist for well over a month now. It has great heft, the dial is understated but very pretty - I particularly like the blue day feature which adds just a touch of colour - and it is by far the most comfortable watch I own - I have slept in it having completely forgotten I was wearing it. It genuinely feels like a watch costing several £ks. I hope they produce some different non- skeletonised designs as I will certainly buy another. Based on my experience so far, highly recommended - the advertising messages seem entirely warranted. Here’s a few photos.
