Throttle body check, remove the inlet piping, about a minuet with a screwdriver
Push the throttle butterfly with your finger, if it sticks and doesn't return to its original position
Its knackered!

Butterfly slowly came back, taped pedal pot with screwdriver handle and engine revs as normal, still turning ign on/off/on again and starts and drives ok, now which way to go.

Not sure what you have done here, but sounds like you have a wiring issue around the pedal pot, or just a faulty pedal sensor, they are prone to failure? if you wiggle the wires with the engine just idling does it throw up an error? And is it throwing an engine warning light when it wont rev? You can check the pedal sensor with a meter. measure DC volts from the yellow or white wire to ground (car body) and it should be 0.35v to .65v at idle and 2.9 to 3.5 volts at full throttle. You can test this with the ignition on, but dont start the engine. The voltage on the white and yellow wire must be identical within 0.015v when its at idle. It must also return to the same place whenever you release the pedal. I would check if any of this is not true?

It should return instantly, It sounds to me like the magnets are starting to break up causing the butterfly jam

As Dave say's it should return instantly, you need to get someone to take it apart and clean the motor assembly which is not not easy as you have to remove both end caps , perhaps Maserati shed could do this for you.

I suggest you don't fool around with the amateurs, get your TB fixed professionally by Xemodex in Canada. They will completely overhaul the unit & fit contactless stats. Brilliant fast service & very accessible over the net.

Had Maserati Shed do his contactless service last year,(March 2017) so I wouldn't expect that to be the problem, after tapping pedal pot its running ok, still turning ignition on/off/on then starts and runs perfect.
Just realised, when the engine is running the TB butterfly does return fast, when I first looked at it everything was turned off. (thick moment, blaming age).

The contactless part of the system is completely different ( the easy part to fix) ..your problem is the motor magnet degradation!

The only thing that worries me about that is sending my priceless tb to a far away place and returned safely.
