Track Day at Snetterton

With online registration and briefing this event surprisingly went ahead today. Took the GC just for a change from the Astons but knowing it was a bit heavy and too long a wheelbase.

Passed the 105db noise test no problems even with valves open and made a great noise, but was humbled by some seriously quick GT2 and GT3 porkers.Gave it my best shot as could be witnessed by the smell of the brakes after each few laps. With no Le Mans this week to go to, this was the next best thing! 711757117671177

Good effort!
I've taken all my cars over the last 10 years or so to Snetterton to test the limits but not yet the masser.
How was it?

So with online registration and briefing, can you actually do this without coming into close contact with anyone at the moment?

And what was your noise reading? I have an xpipe so wondering if I'd get away with it.

Looking at the pics, that's the most amount of 'proppa' cars I've seen there on a track day!
Are you local?

No contact with anyone. Had my own pit garage and it was open pit lane so come and go as you please.

This is my UK home circuit so I took the GC as only bought it last year and was just curious. Wasn’t expecting to break any lap records and it was a real handful on the 2 tightest corners esp the left / right complex between the Bentley Straight and the Bomb Hole.

Orher thann that it sounded great and I was able to keep the racing line most of the time, it was damp in the morning session and I lost the back end a few times as such a long wheelbase and had lift off oversteer as the brakes were having a hard time.

Took it for a laugh and many of the other drivers in their GT 2’s etc complimented me on my line and commitment into the breaking zones as they overtook me!

I’m a classic racer with my DB4GT short chassis and that has lousy grip too on skinny tyres, but much lighter and more nimble than the GC. Was just fun to be out on a track first time this year, as I would normally have had Goodwood MM, Donnington Classic under my belt by now and be gearing up for LMC in a month but all cancelled this year.

No idea about actual noise level as I was just told it was OK, so under 105db.

Yeah was the quickest briefing I've ever had, two mins while the organiser shouted at a few of us. Then no sighting laps and out I went. Aventador on track too which was nice to see appearing in my rear view mirror!

Did a session at Combe on Saturday and loved it. It was good to get back to the hobby!!!

In the GTS?
Not much talk on the forum about taking them on the track. Didn't know if it was the 'done thing'.
I'd like to take mine, at least once, just to know what its like at the limit.

Some lovely cars there. Those Porsches are weapons on track. Great to see cars social distancing.......Didn't realise tract days had started up again. Good news when run correctly. Glad you enjoyed.

I can vouch earlier in the year that a friend of mine in a new GT2 - 3 - might even have been a 4 thingy RS GT whatever (they all look the same to me), - the one with the 'pause' button on the boot lid, from a rolling start at approx 20 - 25mph could not pass me. Right foot firmly in the carpet (both of us). It was a short dual carriageway dash between roundabouts . I don't know who was more surprised - him or me considering the massive weight advantage he had :). Very proud moment:cool:

That sounds like a great day. It's my local track too and I look forward to stretching the Trofeo's legs down there when it's ready for the track. I have retired the Stradale from the track for now as I am sure I will run out of talent before the car does and it's too nice a car to risk having a moment with!
