So this process has started me looking at all options. One option that cropped up was a new shape Mustang. However for not much more you can get a new one. As it unlocks some 0% PCP deals over 3 years etc. that seems enticing. However there is some rub to this when you dig into it.

An added complication seems to be the stupid car tax levies that make buying a new Mustang an expensive option so £2175 first year car tax

It is all well and good trying to incentivise people to buy a new car and one with better green properties it takes. However what if I don't want to buy one of those? I won't. I will also not be buying a new Mustang as refuse to pay an additional £2175 in additional car tax first year.

It's not an additional £2175 as in you have to write a cheque for £2175 , it's a manufacturer problem , it's in the price of the car

If you find one on 0% PCP you'll pay the deposit and the monthly payments , not an extra £2175 , if you'd bought one January 1st and decided to sorn it because of lockdown you can't claim that £2175 back so it's not really road tax.

the 0% makes a big difference to the payments

The extra annual tax on a new one can't be avoided but , it's £10 a week instead of £6 a week hardly a deal breaker if you're looking at a 40k car.

My 5.0 was £145 a year to tax , the 18 plate registered cars are at the lower rate.
