While we say it isn’t keen price I am not sure Inhave seen a 2 seater over 60k for a while but then they don’t come up very often.
All it would take is a few 2ST Strad owners to bing their cars up for £90k and due to the rarity the market will move. Dealers have been doing this for years

Oh, and after feeling the weight of Ewan’s rollcage I won’t be putting it in my car

Bloodyhell I need to read what I write before posting as it should have said we say it’s a keen price but I have not seen a 2 seater over 60k for a while.

I do agree Matt that if owners put a few up for over what they have been selling for then if you want one you would need to pay and seen this with dealers of other marquee since we have come out of lockdown…..Do you think punters would pay 90k for one though….Maybe when we become full electric and it becomes a classic due its rarity…Who knows but don’t think you will be seeing a two seater commanding that sort of money anytime soon.

Are they made of scaffold poles? I'd be interested to compare the weight of a Porsche cage and whilst a quick Google didn't reveal any conclusive answers I saw 20kg mentioned.

It's the look of the cage that I like. We could make some from toilet rolls and spray them silver. Tony Hart style.

The cage in the Trofeo car is very chunky and I dare say, a fair weight but then to do its job, it has to be. The interior needs to be stripped on a Stradale to compensate. When I asked Maserati why the front parking sensors were not an option on a Stradale where as they are common (and much needed) on other GTs, I was told it was for weight saving, so they were on the right lines!

This car caught my eye.

So, given I'm due to be buying an Emira (very early on the list), is the Strad the left field choice?

I also like the V12V and could go up to a 458.

Decisions...

Is the Strad that good?

This is a bit of rollcage tube I’ve got lying around. Just weighed it 5lbs

Rollcages have come a long way. Next time you see a race car from the late 70s like a 935 and think the rollcage looks great bear in mind back then they were using 2mm wall aluminium tube

Oh, BTW, Lotus are stringing potential buyers along with an absolute famine of information, which is really switching me off. Not good marketing IMO, I'm looking for other stuff to spend my money on.

It’s less than a year ago that a 2 seat Strad sold for £70k. And another is about to hit the market at £65k (if it’s not pre-sold, which I understand is a distinct possibility). So these two at £60k seem perfectly reasonable. And the only way is up, given their rarity and the forthcoming MC20 effect.

Pillars were only half an inch thick, though, so even a bend-o-lux roll-cage may have added something to rigidity and safety.

If they were my options, think I'd have to go 458, just a shame most people will think your cock.

That’s what Lancia did in their rally cars in the 70’s! Kinda worked for them. Well until poor Henri crashed.

V12V …..I was at Dick Lovett Aston Martin in a Bristol (again) today and the old Vantage is still one of the best looking cars out there. Such a perfect shape with not a bad angle…..Buy one and I am sure you will not lose much money.

V12V v Strad. Discuss?

I am sure some will not agree but for me the V12V is in a different league…..Performance and handling the Stradale just would see which way it went. While I see what Zep has said the performance figures suggest a different story (Adam needs to up his game :) ) but then I don’t own either but have driven both and I do love both…You put the same driver in each car and I am sure the Vantage would be quicker and more nibble in the twisty bits…Both have great engines but one is a V12 in the smallest car Aston make….I love a Stradale but it’s a big old car. For me they are very different machines…..Stradale pulls on those heart strings with its looks and sound but then the V12V does as well. The Vantage for me is just the most beautiful car in the road and that is what swings it for me…..But then you do need another 25k over a Stradale to get an V12VS so it is about is it worth the extra? Only driving both can answer that….What is obvious though is that the Stradale is great value for money. Not much at 60k that has the passion and noise a Stradale gives you…
