So I'm thinking about getting a valvetronic type system on car, currently looking at ipe and considering a bypass of the silencer.

Has anyone got any thoughts on these sound, practicality (error codes?) etc

Cheers fellas

There are some German guys with valves on QPs - I'll try to dig out some details for you over the weekend.

I have a silencer bypass on my qp. No error codes and keeps the car stock and quiet when idling, gives a fantastic tuned tone under acceleration and really emphasises the sound I believe should have been stock. Very Ferrari esque sounding, fantastic if I say so myself :)

Is there a valve on this, if so can it be controlled by fob?

Also it looks to be visible to passers by is it?

Can't see any valves. It shouldn't be hard to do. I was going to do it to my 4200. Might still do, but having heard straight throughs with an unsilenced X-pipe I think it's probably acceptable. If it's not, I'll re-visit the valved boxes but they actually get quite expensive unless you can do all the work yourself. The valves come in at nearly £200 before you even start welding and adding the electrics.

Looked at doing something similar for mine, but was convinced otherwise by the fine, upstanding Newton of this parish :)

Installed for c. 5 years now, not much trouble, best of both worlds, can be tricky to install.

That looks bang tidy, and I bet those sound awesome!
Is that extra heatproof covering on the underside of the boot floor? Is there a kit of parts used and a drawing? Looks like cut and sleeve original pipe which will be quite easy )for someone else not me!)

My god I thought my installation was tidy...............but that looks the complete n@ts!!!
Mine isn't visible to passers by you need to get right under the car to see anything (that's that my picture was trying to show)

Wow................that's all I can say to that!!

where can i get that done?

Any decent exhaust place, or even competent stainless welder could do it. The valves can be had from ebay about £100 each. Cabling might be harder to find someone, but I'd be happy to help if you could get the car here :)

Like I said, I was looking to do the same with mine, but was swayed from it. Not least due to the 4200 having less room to pump hot gas over, and the very real possibility of flames on the overrun setting light to the grass at Brunty :)

Hi,

I'm away at the moment, 'on tour', but will do video clip on my return. Written on my phone so please excuse spelling, grammer etc.....

The 'cut-outs' are from a USA company called Badlandz (or something to that effect). The positive points are the ability to fully open or close the cut-outs, or with practice, anywhere inbetween. The quality of the sleeves and cut-outs is fine. The noise in frankly frightening, I can be heard miles away when heading home, it gives my Sensible Half time to get the spuds on. Plenty of pops bangs and gurgles on the overrun and a maniacal howl high in the rev range.

The downside is that the electrics supplied with the cut-outs has some dodgy connectors. The connectors used are 'phono jack' types, and are rubbish. I deleted them altogether which allowed me to have to only make a small hole in the boot floor to pass the wires through to the control box. The sleeves worked well but I needed to cut the angled tips and re-mig them to make them point downwards at about 45deg. If you don't tighten the 3 bolts evenly, the flaps will jam. Some exhause gas leakage is possible, but setting up the 2 flaps to work together is important. There is a good bit of trial or error involved, particularly in getting used to controlling the opening and closing of the flaps. The key fobs are ok, but the cover over the led on it will fall off.

It works for me as it gives my passengers a thrill, without having to floor it too much.

That's the problem innit. You spend several hundred pounds and don't like the result.....

It has a lovely noise as standard but just to quiet for my taste. The only downside with v8 amg is that going the loud way it might just sound like a farting machine!Heard couple c63amg in Central London and didn't like it!
