Hi - I love the GranCabrio and want one. But I'll be honest - I don't know what I'm doing. If I get a 2011/12 with FSH and newish tyres should I be fine or is there specific things I need to look out for that our known parts to deteriorate or things I need to make sure it's had done! Hope that makes sense and thanks for any guidance...

Find one, get it fully checked out, but still be prepared for potentially huge bills.

Tyres are the least of worries on a Maserati....

I would give Richard Grace a call as he will be able to advise you and may even know of a car. Richard is very respected in here and lots have purchased car from him.

The Gran Cab is a beautiful thing but get a specialist to look over it first as bills can be pretty big. I would also get the underneath treated if it hasn’t been already as the sun frames can rot from the inside. Also if you can stretch go for the Sport as it is a better drive than the standard car and looks better as well. There is a very lovely red sport on Auto-trader at the moment for 41k with cream leather. Looks stunning but the blacked out rear lights for me would have to go.

Thank you. Very very helpful.

PPI’s are essential or you could very easily land yourself with a 10K bill at the first service.
As others have suggested, give Richard Grace a call before you do anything.

As has been said, tyres should be the least of your worries. A PPI is essential with particular focus on subframes.

You should ask for receipts / evidence of servicing as well. Lots don't have the lambda sensors changed every 4 years (as it widely considered to be unnecessary) and move to an 8 year ish interval. If these need changing, it is £1000.

Engines and gearbox reliable but lots of other potentials for big bills.

Also make sure you can live with the lack of boot space as, for a 4 seater car, it is sh!te

I love my grancab, had it over three years now. Id say buy on a detailed look at condition and history to make sure its a good one and not money pit. Ive had nothing actually go wrong with mine so far, but preventative maintenance can rack up the costs. All the usual GT items to look out for, although the cab has additional structural bracing underneath which does a job of helping protect the front sub frame so they suffer corrosion a little less. They are not immune though.

Ive had no issues with the roof, although it does throw the occasional fit telling me its not operational. a few seconds they try again usually does the trick.

And yes, the boot is rubbish but theres loads of space on the back seats if carrying less than 4.

As Andy said, Dicky Grace is worth a look, also call Nareman at Nuvola London. Exceptional reputation and the best dealer I've ever dealt with. As well as whatever he has in stock, he may well know of other cars coming on to the market.

PS - you have fine taste!

PPS - two 'in' at Nuvola:

This is great info from everyone. Will absolutely get a PPI (from reputable company) and have spoken to Richard. He says engine and gearbox usually good. It's all about the sub frame...

Stretch to the sport variant if you can - clear indicators good sign of type - can provide further details if unfamiliar
Needs Full history
Check Front discs have been changed (>mileage 30K) - Wheel bearings - front suspension noise - Tyre depth - check no rips in hood - Tyre pressure sensors should have been changed
Very reliable (honest) , needs to be garaged and on a trickle charger when not in use IMO - no issues with Engine and gearbox, but occasional ancillaries can be problematic - air con (condenser) and alternator.

Owned over 6 years, every trip an occasion.
