As per title, I am actively looking for a new car. My annual commute has now dropped to 1k per annum so looking to get into another sporty car. I’m considering several options but the title is why I’m posting here. I am looking at the lower end of the market up to £10k. I’m a mechanic by trade so would consider work being required (as expected at this price point).
Let me know what you have to offer.

thanks

Welcome and always good to have another mechanic on the forum.
With a budget of 10K you should find a good car that you can fettle and improve.
Just need to decide which model you really want.
Good Luck

Thanks Phil, appreciate the welcome.
I am drawn to a 4200 simply due to being chain driven/ N/A and a slightly younger car.

Including 3200’s as a consideration just in case something tempting comes along.

I have two 4200 F1 and both were Great cars.
The second one I bought as project with a failed water/oilpump unit.
So good when finished I took it with me to New Zealand where it still is and going strong too.

Welcome. Lots of older cars that need work at that price point... but give them a good check over as there are a number of parts that are NLA or at a price that makes a cheap car an expensive proposition.

Good to know- thanks. I’ll ensure I do the due diligence before pulling the trigger. I’m aware of lower arms being an issue (is that correct), any other common replacement parts on a 4200 which are NLA or overly expensive?

Mostly cosmetic items, or things like rubber seals. Shocks and related parts like engine mounts can be pricey but not hard to find.

anyone know this car? Perhaps the owner is on here? Thinking of arranging a viewing but it’s a decent trip for me, so if anyone knows it, it would be helpful if not worth the trip?
