I am looking for the subject vehicle with a view to purchase early 2012. It is my wife's birthday and for some reason she has always wanted the subject model. I am advised that the 2001 year is the one to go for, not a 2000 model registered in 2001.
Colour preferred is in Blue Metalic, with Cream Leather interior and fully equipped. I will consider other finishes if the price is favourable. The overall condition has to be good, with full maintenance history, belts done when required etc. Everything should work! Nothing shabby!
Any member with advice on what I should steer clear of would be heard with gratitude.
I am located in the UK.
Thanks to everyone in advance.

Warm welcome to the forum Hodroyd, what great taste your wife has,.certainly a credit to you sir , you are correct and as with most things the later the model isthe, generally more sorted the model will be , auto's are generally the more drivable of the cars ,

What is a must with a supercar of this age , is an independant inspection approx £200-250, believe me when i say it will save you loads in the long term and is a very good negotiating point at time of sale ,

We have a purchase guide so feel free to do a search , also there is a recommended list of techs/indies who would be willing to do an inspection for you all of whom are well trusted

If you spot any vehicles that are around/advertised feel free to ask on here , they may well be known cars and you may well get some first hand knowledge

regards loz

Hello Loz,
Many thanks for the warm welcome.
Yes my wife has some good ideas, I was not sure about the 3200 GT at first, numerous bad reports from yesteryear, but the later models do quite well. I realise Italian Sports are not the most reliable, but they are getting better. I am personally considering a F458 Italia, a step up from Jaguars & TVR which I have had.
I have driven the Maserati Range on a Maserati day I was invited to at a UK proving ground, so I know more or less what they are like.
Anyhow, your advice is well received and I thank you for that. Where do I find the Purchase Guide??

Hello dem maser,
An Assetto Corsa of the right year and specs would be interesting. If you have one, or know where one is that could be available, please let me know the details, I would appreciate it.

Hello and welcome to the forum.....if looking for a 3200 the ac is the way to go....they cost more but with so little of them in the country they tend to hold their value......Dem and pibbow have two great examples of the 3200 ac....

Hello Andyk,
Thanks for the welcome.
OK, so I look for the Assetto Corsa, which I believe has everything on it, but that is reflected in the price.
I do not want to go absolutely mad, my wife has bumped every car she has had, including mine, so I am governing the price a bit. Anybody with a 3200GT AC of the right year and hopefully colour, that wants to pass it on, please let me know the details.
Thanks again for the advice. Oh by the way, what do you think of the Maserati Forum as a market place?

mine is 2001...........pibbows is also a late one.............depends on your budget, ACs are generally in the high teens whereas 3200 can be had for 12k so its all bout budget

If you type with just one finger , and can wait a month or two for a reply then MF will do you just fine , on the other hand we are all really on here and digressed from there to here 18 months ago because it wasn't doing what it said on the tin , you just have to look and compare the current post count to see where the traffic is , having said that last time i looked mine was the highest count on there and a very large % of the tech section was forthcoming from the main contributors on here , we understand that any forum is only as good as its membership and we live by that rule

Re either of the 2 assetto corsa's mentioned above , i can personally vouch for both of them , have seen them both on numerous occasions and you would do well to better

No problem mate.

If you are thinking about Dems, it's a very nice one and as it's got a few more miles on it may be a bit cheeper.

Good luck with your search mate.

Hi Loz,

OK and understood, many thanks for the advice.
I am thinking about the 2 AC's mentioned, hope I don't have nightmares thinking about the damage my wife could do to them and the costs of repair??

My sentiments are with you, bless her............dont you just luvvem to bits , bet she is well sold on those boomerangs eh , seeing as you are considering the AC's a point to note is that values are increasing and come re-sale time, providing she takes a bit of care with it , you might even make a bob or two , out of the 3200 's the AC's are in demand by the Aussies , and their strong dollar , most AC's get snapped up pretty sharpish and we have had quite a few from here that have gone to OZ , the members of which are currently on here frequently building their own little section for all things Maserati in OZ

Take care and i wish you well in your search , by the way if you get the 458 , i'll be your best friend for life if you come back and post some pics on here

warm regards loz

AC's are rare so if you really want one snap a good one up as most are heading to the land of OZ at the moment...A number of good ones have gone to our Austrailian friends as they know a great car when they see one.

I have a blue/cream 3200 which I have enjoyed for 4 years and might consider changing early next year.
