Another welcome to those from down under, and may I add to the recommendation; Stephen bought my AC and from my perspective Elite/Julie were excellent to do business with in all respects.

Nothing considered derogatory about the term "Aussie". Worn as a badge of honor mostofthe time except mYbe last Saturday when the Kiwis gave us a thrashing in the Bledisloe. It might be good for us to put an "importing" section on our own chat group down here as well. Thanks for all the welcomes, this is a fantastic forum. Geoff

Its only as good as the combination of its parts and its members Geoff, a credit to Conaero/Matt who gave birth to it and all the 997 members who've joined in just 15 mths.

Hi guys, and thanks for providing the space for our colonial chatter...

I joined up after the recent Melbourne get together where OzzieAl mentioned how good this forum was, and already I've had lots of laughs, plus seen all sorts of cunning tips for problems which I will hopefully never encounter...

cheers... Rob

Hi Rob, Welcome to the forum and to our Antipodean section in particular. I'll look forward to peeking over the fence to read of all your Maserati adventures.

Hi Guys,

Well I am pleased to see you have all been busy introducing yourselves. A big thanks to Matt and all our UK cousins on SM for allowing us a small but growing number of MMG members to join you in our experiences living with our Masearti's,,

I will endeavour to try and get as comprehensive post which we can put up as a sticky for those who want to know what it takes to bring a car from overseas. I have seen many discussions on this topic across the internet, as always some of it right and some of it wrong, but on this site we will try to only post facts it can sometimes get a bit difficult because the duties and ATO taxes change like the breeze,,, but at least we can set people of in the right direction aware of what they are committing themselves to in principal.

Look forward to many more conversations on the downunder thread,,, as your summer draws to an end ours is only just beginning so we have lots to look forward to this year which should keep you amused when your massers are all locked up tight for the winter...

PS> I hope none of you have been caught up in any of the crazy riots which have been going on in the UK over the last few days, it really is tragic to see what has been going on, I only hope it never comes here...

Calculator for importing vehicles into Australia where taxes are paid (e&oe)

Hi

Those interested in importing a vehicle, the attached link provides a fairly accurate guide on the landed cost of the vehicle.
CHECK B4 U BUY that the vehicle is elibible - for Masa's upto chassis build date Feb 2008 can be imported

(Imports under personal import, different rules apply)

-Remember to convert the GBD to AUD at the prevailing retail rates as your valuation starting point
-to the estimate, add a further AUD $10-15k estimate for compliance costs in OZ - (can only be done there)

Wasn't it called a World Cup? Some little fella drop kicked a ball and it was all over....

Next time round one of your guys was reffing and couldn't see an obvious try....

Roll on the next one in a few weeks; hope you guys are ready for another demonstration of the great game?

thanks to lozcb, Parisien, dem maser, GransportFan1, Emtee, Andyk & ENZ525 for the warm welcome...... it is very nice of you all! :)

like OzzieAl I was pretty shocked to see the recent coverage of the problems in the UK... I saw some footage on the news of coppers bashing villains and a few Transit vans getting torched - it was like watching a modern day version of "The Sweeney"!!! I guess the only good news is it seems that London shouldn't have any problems getting the Olympic flame lit next year!

2b1ask1... yes, Jonny's drop kick was completely cruel, but also completely brilliant, and although I wouldn't want another England victory, it would be far more palatable than the All Blacks winning!! ;) Regardless of the outcome I'm looking forward to the RWC immensely and although I'm not holding my breath for the Aussie lads, I was very impressed with them beating the Springboks in South Africa a few days ago... maybe they are a chance after all?
