What’s this Bolt that fell off?

That's a major bolt that was left loose and I would say from a subframe.
I would also be having a good look for Rust too.

It's very good that you found it.

After my car had had a new clutch at a well-known independent I spent quite a bit of time fixing various important-looking underneath parts back on again, such as heat shields and - not least of all - the cross-member at the back, which was barely finger-tight at one end and not bolted on at all at the other. Don't underestimate the ability of apparently experienced people to be muppets.

40 years on the tools I have worked with a few for sure but it will be the same in any profession.
Again from my experiences the most inept people usually become service advisors managers and even dealer principal.
All depends on how much they like to brown nose.
I like to stay on the tools myself.

Just lucky that the reason I was driving it today was to take it to Barr Tech for its annual service, so they will have a look. Drove 40 miles to them carefully and all seemed normal.

im hoping it’s one of the 20 or so bolts that holds on the stiffening frame under the exhausts on a Grancabrio that had to come off to fit the x pipe. The bolt looks to have rusted and sheared off, so they should be able to drill out the rest of it so I can fit a new one once ordered from Italy.

This frame was also taken off about a year ago when the whole underside was cleaned de rusted and Dinitrolled by Rustbuster.

I would image you are correct, there are diagonal stiffners front and back then the skid plate strengthener over the top.

Once Barr Tech have a look they will call me and I’ll update on here. Glad you agree as the most likely culprit Matt and if that’s the case then not too serious as it’s one of many holding the plate on.

Probably over torqued with an air tool rather than rusted.
Agreed. Got the x pipe from Autoshield and had fitted by local exhaust place as a straightforward swap with the resonator box. Used air gun and it sheared off I guess. Strange it took a while to drop out!

The sub frame bolts don't have that funky rubber washer on them (or shouldn't). The only place i think there are washers like that is around the radiator mounting brackets? I would check your subframe bolts too , just because that's areally important one to loose!

Can understand why as they are black in the photo. This is due to being covered in Dinitrol wax so that tells me they and the socket of the bolt were sprayed during the treatment of the underside. There are 2 separate metal washers of different diameter one on top of the other The photo looks like a single rubber washer and I understand the confusion. Sorry!

It’s the LH rear bolt off the front subframe. Barr Tech managed to get the rest of it out with an extractor so a clean socket thankfully and so now just need a new one.

Matt or anybody else got one in stock I can purchase and have posted save waiting for one from Italy?

Thx

Scuderia claim to have stock. Maybe worth a call.
Are Barr Tech checking the other fixings?
