When did the GT S become a Sport?

This from Wikipedia:

GranTurismo Sport (2012–present)
Replacing both the GranTurismo S and S Automatic, the Granturismo Sport was unveiled in March 2012 at the Geneva Motor Show.[7][8] The revised 4.7L engine is rated at 460 PS (338 kW; 454 hp). The Sport features a unique, MC Stradale inspired front fascia, new headlights and new, sportier steering wheel and seats. The ZF six-speed automatic gearbox is now standard, while the six-speed sequential transaxle is available as an option. The latter has steering column mounted paddle shifters, a feature that’s optional with the automatic gearbox.

My GT S was registered in Feb 2013 but isn’t the facelift version described above. Nor are many others from 2012/13. Does that mean that it sat around for a year before being registered or is Wikipedia incorrect?

I have a 62 plate pre-facelift GT S, and I always thought the facelift Sport started being sold on 13 plates. There are some pre-facelifts also on 13 plates, but I think these are cars that were probably built in 2012 but took a while to get registered...

Wiki right (ish). Sport came in from September 2012 production so your car was built before then.

Looking at adverts, some people confuse a Sport (i.e. the facelift car from late 2012 onwards) with earlier cars that have a “sport” pack.

Which is strange as very few Sports pack cars were sold as it was only available for little more than a year.

The word Sport wasn't used until face lift. It says so in the brochure I have......Before it was GTS or S on the 4.7 Auto but never the full sport word until that facelift.

It was only used for a while on 2011/12 price lists as an option on the GTS Auto called the Sport Pack but as ever people latch onto the word Sport thinking it means more than it does!

That's weird as in the brochure it wasn't an option. The face lift GTS was call Granturismo Sport...In fact there was never a Granturismo GTS as when the 4.7 came out it was just called Gramturismo S....It was people like us that just shorten it to GTS.....Maserati just changed the name to identify the facelift was a new model by just adding Sport instead of just S.

This is from the Geneva motor show 2012..

Revealed at the Geneva motor show earlier this year, the Maserati GranTurismo Sport is the replacement for the GranTurismo S - the model which arguably best embodied its deluxe brand of ...

The first face-lift was around 2012 and features a new nose although the GTS continued with the original fog lamped nose right up to the second face-lift for MY 2018.

The GT sport 2012-17, is the best looking, most aggressive look IMHO. Especially in a nice blu....

I’m quite partial to a front fog-lamp, but the nice blu bit is right!

Late 2012 is correct. My brochure from April 2012 still only shows the pre-facelift GT-S, with the Strad being the only car with the new shape nose.

I agree. I’d love to find a paddle-shift GT Sport in dark metallic blue, with tan interior and smoke grey alloys. That’s my ideal. If anyone has one, call me!
