Whinning Noise on Start up

So started yesterday, on start up my car is making a loud whinning noise which gets louder as steering and or acceleration is applied. Even when warmed up the noise is present, if I turn car off and lock and leave a few moments then restart, the sound is gone.

This is a terrible routine I dont want to get into and before I bring to dealership, I need to know what you guys think it could be?

The past few mornings here have been 3-7c

Cheers.

Was first thing I thought of and seems like it could be power related with steering etc. Get it to the dealers and have it checked out.

Could be anything though like power steering pump or secondary Air pump or even a belt.

If it was a drive belt then why would it get louder when steering is applied? Makes sense for acceleration as drive belt goes faster with engine but not steering unless there is a secondary belt and some form of clutch for the steering. Please let us know what the dealer has to say.

Check the aircon pump on those, they are a know weakness and drop the refrigerant onto other parts of the aux belt system.

Mine went on the GTS at 12k miles and 2.5 years old.

Check Power steering fluid level... tends to squeal a bit when the pump is short of fluid..

Car booked into dealership next week, as I need to get my alloys repaired first apparently takes 5 days.

the sound does go away after 20 mins under acceleration but something is linked to steering and acceleration that is causing it to increase in pitch.
