Who needs a red Masterkey for his 3200GT ?

Hello there, I own the red key... but there's no electronic card and transponder inside. Is that normal ?
Code light doesn't disappear when I want to start my 3200GT. I've changed the battery, drained all the electronic memories but nothing happens. Before that, the problem occured regularely but I had only to remove the key and put it again in the ignition switch, before starting. Any idea about how to solve the problem ?
Also, I don't have the grey code card.

Currently I have a similar issue, my battery discharged (trickle charger turned off by my loving wife) I turn on the ignition and the red immobiliser light extinguishes but when I turn to start
it comes on and just wont go + engine check light. Battery replaced, tried all of the keys, locked and unlocked numerous times thinking it may clear. Unfortunately I have not had time to get to grips with this but need to get it sorted for the summer. I have had the car 4 years and its never missed a beat, engine check light has come on a few times if its not been driven but ha always disappeared after a short drive.
I also don't have the grey card despite two large files of history.

I always had the red and two black keys but was missing the cards, i obtained replacements from Maserati through HR Owen.

Sounds like a problem with the immobiliser aerial to me going intermittent and then failing. I'd have a look at that first; check the connector on it etc. It fits around the ignition switch and picks up the transponder in the key. My friend had a similar problem on his Alfa Spyder which was easily fixed by making a good connection ...
