2009 GTS sat with battery disconnected as I write this. Battery is full as had it on charge last weekend.

Lights come on, try to start and won’t even tick over, you hear starter motor for a split second then eclecticism die. Service coupon expired came up in dash but it’s not due a service.

Trying battery reset, any other thoughts ?

I would say the battery is done but the reason it’s not starting is due to the lack of power to ancillary services and more so the gearbox control and actuator. Basically the amp drop and the gear can’t disengage so permission to start is denied. You can put it in neutral and brake off and see if you can roll the car. Also cycle the gears 1/N/R with ignition on. It’s in gear or the actuator thinks it’s in gear so start denied. If you can get it started you will probably get a Park Off error which confirms the battery. It could be oil leak in the actuator which contaminates the potentiometers and gives a false reading where it’s been sat so long.

Thanks Con. Managed to reserve a Bosch S5 at local euro carparts, just at shops will collect in a bit, managed to get 50% discount voucher.

I always park in garage with EPB off so that’s something.

Once I fir this new battery on the hope it sorts it, how do I sort that service coupon expired? I assume this is just he date till next service ? Which is ages away unfortunately

I was told by Emblem to just change the date on the car if the service coupon bothered me.

My service light is playing silly beggars. Ages ago I checked when die on the NIT and it more or less said 'pretty soon' then more lately it said service due in five days. That was three weeks ago and no sign of the spanner light......

And my parking sensors have started working again. Come TPMS, you next!!
