Xenon Headlight Failure

Anyone ever had a ballast (if that’s the right word) fail on a xenon headlight. D2 bulbs swapped them and the igniter over but still not working so I’m guessing ballast?

Does anyone know how to test a ballast?

don't fiddle with them they pack a lot of energy.

It should be a generic item common to most make of car.

Everything at work is either 650v or 25kv precautions aren’t a problem. Must be a way to test the system.

£100 for a maserati ignitor, so expect other types to be 1/4 of that.

They seem to be about that but having destroyed my hands getting into the bloody lights to change a bulb that it wasn’t I want something definitive

If both bulbs aren’t working could it be the switch?

Sorry, didn’t explain, it’s the RH dipped xenon that’s not working. All other lights function. Got a new bulb, still didn’t work. So swapped starter to the other side and it worked ok. So I think it’s either wiring or the ballast

I had a failure exactly the same on my Jag. Turned out to be the ballast after trying the bulb change. There were two units on that car and both were replaced. Sorted the problem.

Thanks. I’ve tried bulbs and starters. That’s my next point of call but it’s a jack up and undertrays off job.
