Hi
Does anyone have experience of Gray Paul in Nottingham or JCT 600 in Leeds?
I need some time on the diagnostic machine to reset an airbag light & have the clutch wear & software checked to see if it is up to date.
I though about using an indie but there doesn't seem to be one in this neck of the woods

Thanks Lee

Can't vouch for the service department I have not needed them yet, but have always been impressed by the general attitude of the dealership at Graypaul in Nottingham.

Hi all,

As I am now splitting my time between Bristol, Farnborough and now Sheffield, I was about to ask about indie's in the area so this has been very timely for me.
I will be checking out Millbrook this weekend with luck.

Have been using Graypaul Nottingham for the past 6 months. Have to say they are good. Will the Service Manager asks up front about the work you want to have done. I have never felt I was being sold to. They are even taking on my suggestions about alternatives based on the excellent work of this forum - tyres, brake discs etc.

Just my six penneth.

What are they like on servicing Damon , do they offer you a deal ,and or do you get a price comparison , most of the main dealers now will match the indies , its tight out there and a dealer stamp for the price of an indie service is good value and worth thinking about , but really its about being confident with the people doing work on your car and if your happy and get good service then a little extra £££'s can sometimes be worrthwhile

Loz - have to say I have used the "indie line" and as if by magic the labour rate is extremely competitive. As my mother says "Don't ask, don't get"

They have also been very good at pointing out little niggles and making it clear that the work can wait. So my confidence in them is pretty good. Their's to lose.

I think it will be interesting when it comes to major items like a clutch change - I am sure this is where I will start to question the main dealer price uplift.

Hi

Spoke to Simon @ Millbrooke this morning, seems to have a good knowlegde of the cars.
I am going to get them to do the diagnostics etc. I also asked about 4 wheel alignment they use a local company & take the car with all shims etc.
So will get them to do that whilst they have it!

If you're going to have your geometry checked then make sure they're using a Hunter machine. You could be wasting your money with anything else.

And you need shims to set up certain apects like camber, so you need to have these parts or again, you will waste your money. Best to take it to a main dealer (circa £250) or an indie (circa £200) and have it done.

Your Original question - Both JCT and Graypaul Notts with us at supercarhub and we have many happy customers, having saved loads.. of ocurse. Incidently with our quotes at the moment (may or may not know peeps) GP notts do free wheel alignment, health check, service valet, courtesy cars/collection available ...

I have been hunting around in Yorkshire too, Millbrooke is a definite option, thanks for the tip guys. I have recently been in touch with JCT Brooklands in Leeds for a price on an oil and filter change, basically £400, which is steep, but they also included a visual check (quick look round £200), good money if you can get it. Oh and they now use Shell helix for the oil. I will give Millbrooke a call, their published prices on the web don't seem too bad. I will need a main service soon and before we set off to Monte Carlo in April, so I will compare. If I can get the advantage of the main dealer stamp at an indie price, I will grab it.

Cheers
