Ford RS200 all the time at petrol stations with clam up filling it up, with most people asking "what's that mate a kit car" or "some Japanese thing", I tend to go along with it and say its a kit car, although pleasantly every now and then someone does say "you don't see many of those on the road" which then leads down the Group B memory lane chat

yes I still have the beast, I give it a blast every now and then and certainly brings a grin to your face

Not sure where you're based, but there was a guy in East Hanningfield, Essex, who had two RS200's, and white one (obviously) and a much rarer red one.
Both absolutely mint. He live near the pub I used to play football for, and one Sunday lunchtime after a game we were treated to the sight of 6 of them all parked up side by side. Sadly before the days of camera phones.

I've lost count on the number of compliments I've had for the 4200. Some about its performance, noise ( surprisingly, it's standard!) and colour (Azurro Argentina).
The only 'negative' comment was from an exNATS engineer who didn't want to TUPE over to our company as he 'didn't want to work for a company where the Senior Engineer drives a Maserati' . (his words)

He now works for us...lol

I'm in Surrey, be surprised to see 6 together anywhere these days unfortunately, there a few that still use them in demonstration events in the UK and Europe

Sadly I have received/heard a fair amount of negative comments which I can only put down to jealousy perhaps, for example some kids in a Wiltshire town shouting "poor mans ferrari" from the pavement... quite recently at the petrol station nearby I was inside paying while my partner sat in the car and some guys walked past commenting on the size of my cock owning such a car - as the windows were open I think she told them to **** off (or something along those lines) - even overhearing a couple who looked like they were in their 60's muttering that "those two look too young to own a car like that" while pulling a screw face at us... people really need to get over themselves but I think some are just so consumed with competition they just cannot control their mouths (you have something that they don't so they have to make a ****** comment type mentality)

That said when I first bought the car two people who I considered close friends at the car had such a vile reaction that I slowly started distancing myself from them (sort of event which proved who my friends were as the rest of my friends and family absolutely loved it and were happy for me)

Anyway sorry to put a negative spin on it but there are always two sides to these things
I’m really new here, brand new in fact as of today my names Charles and I bought a 4200 last year and love it. Haven’t actually driven it much as it needs some work, hence why I joined! But I had a similar experience to you. Not as dramatic as losing friends but I did receive comments/concern from family/friends when I bought it with a car loan last year (it’s all mine now ) . The main comments I received were positive and negative lol. Mainly it’s a nice car, I just hope you haven’t made a bad financial decision with the car loan! I mean I get it, they aren’t car people and were concerned for me. But not what you want to hear when your forking our a monthly payment which even I was concerned about at the time lol! Fortunately it’s all mine now and they are all happy for me! But apart from that all pretty positive when I’ve been out in it. Mainly from the older generation asking me if I’d take them for a spin but even a few younger kids liking my loud exhaust noise as drive by! Look forward to getting to know you all a little better. Hopefully have some pics soon to share once it’s had some more work done!

Living in Dundee, aka City of the Interesting Car Drought (TM) my cars get a fair bit of attention, and mainly positive.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, the little bright green one gets a fair bit more attention than the more subtle, albeit noisier Maserati.

The only negative attention is from silly boy racers at traffic lights with rev-itus, and drivers of German junior management saloons fitted with the front bumper tow along option.

Considering my car is just a humble Ghibli Diesel, I am amazed how many comments some rude, but the majority are complimentary.
I think as I always keep it clean, and particularly in sunny weather the colour reacts strongly.
I doubt any of the German rivals get a second glance.
I took the attached picture when the car was parked in Oxford, and from the other side of the road watched several passers by looking round the car and commenting.

Marci has had a few comments, mostly positive but with hindsight I would say the de badged midnight blue corrado pulled most attention......miss that car. there is always one you should never had let go off isn't there?

Defiantly the old 3200GT, people seem to love it and no slagging off..

It gets a little embarrassing though, when your in a local petrol station and people start taking photos!

Wow, the last time I saw one of those was in around 1987, there was about 30 parked up in a field just of Siskin Drive in Coventry..

Apparently they were ones that were converted for road use!

Welcome to the forum Charles.

Yeah people are strange... there was no reasoning and one of the two went as far as suggesting that I have mental health problems - needless to say we are no longer on talking terms but it wasn't just about me buying a maserati and good riddance!

I remember posting about it on here and I believe it was @conaero who said something along the lines of "these people are not your friends!" and it certainly is true if a friend or family member does well for themselves I am always happy for them!

Had something similar with Alex's family when I got my 4200, as they always thought they were better than me as I was from Essex
"How could I possibly afford a Maserati?" etc etc etc.

When I bought the GTS they were even more put out. Stuck up snobs who think they are so much better than everyone else when the reality is, they haven't a pot to p*ss in as it turns out.

It's too much competition... certain people get so consumed with what other people have or achieve that it eats them up inside turning them into quite bitter people... I'm sure we all have a twitching neighbour or a bad friend who is the same

Also you can't suddenly stop being from Essex mate... I mean it's not such a bad place and you have **** loads of z-list celebraties :)
