All the rates are below inflation.
So it’s false security as you’re losing.
Fair point. I've deliberately maxed a 0% credit card, and I need to pay it off next September. I have the money sat in an account which has pitiful interest. I'm not interested in gambling it in stock or gold, where there's a risk of losing it, so what would you do?

I suspect he might have noticed that. Most portfolios will lose money in real terms for a while. Sure some selective aspects will do well but people might not want to take such bets with a large amount of their assets. Security has a value at the moment.

I’d get the cash out the bank, and then create a few nude “only fans vids” where I throw it all up in the air, then run around underneath it whilst it gently tumbles down, before finally rolling around in it in a highly lascivious manner.

Then I’d charge £5 quid a view.

You did ask.

He didn’t say it was “ a large amount of their assets” and you’d be surprised at the number of people who don’t!
Dave should have followed up his “share tip “ request.

“Security has a value at the moment”
Like what, a sure loss?

You really talk like someone at the races who only remembers his winners. Sure we have all had things that have done very well (or not) as we go further up the risk profile but put a large percentage of funds in these sort of things and you can be a hero or a zero quite easily without really having control of what you are doing.

I understand why the OP might want some cash on deposit at the moment as a risk reducing measure even if the real return is a guaranteed negative.

Fair points, I’m in cash too ($) but I thought you may have had an alternative I hadn’t considered

But how many times are YOU going to pay the £5?

Winter is coming, geo-political risk is off the scale (why are the Americans trying to start two wars at once?) and BoE are likely over tightening.

The good news is I have a few acres of woodland and a wood burning stove.
Do you have a spare tent?

I do but as a Scotsman you will understand it won't be enough for the winter. Anyway I doubt you have fur knickers anymore.
I don’t, switched to a g-string a while back.
I also understand yer American comments.
concerning.

If that happens (not the underwear) then cash on deposit is even too risky (leave space for Wattie to insert gold comment in reply).

Remember you have shared the picture of your bedside safe.

Is Cyprus still the way the rouble gets cleaned up?
