Wecome to the Forum Kev. Any idea why its a non runner Battery perhaps?Hi All, i have just picked up a wonderful 4200 for my first foray into the trident mark.
It’s a non runner at the moment and as won’t turn over but hoping to get it on the road soon after being picked up last week.
Can anyone recommend a decent outdoor car cover?
Thanks all

Thanks Joe…battery is all ok, all the dash lights come on. The previous owner said that it wouldnt select gear at some traffic lights, pushed to a layby and by the time recovery got there it wouldnt even turn over so my guess is electrical and possibly ECU…Wecome to the Forum Kev. Thanks for that….its a car i want to keep for a long time so want to get it right from the start, especially the batteryWell there are quite a few Tec Guys on the Forum so am sure many will help with problems. They are a good set of lads that is when not drunk,or stoned you know the usual!
In Passing the battery on a Maserati is so important and has to be top notch, as all sorts of problems can occur if it is dodgy

Im in Basingstoke. It is in with someone at the moment who is giving it a good going over and will report back on what the issue isWhere are you located Kev ?
There may be a forum member somewhere near you with suitable diagnostics tool that can point you in the right direction regards the no start once you have a fresh battery on it.
Shooting in the dark without a dignostic check. Could be as simple as a brake switch fault or faulty T bar to something more serious like a clutch or F1 pump issue and a host of things inbetween.
Once you have a battery on it see if you can actually select a gear first , reverse and neutral with the ignition on but engine off and let us know. It will point us in the right direction of things to check.
Welcome to the forum and Trident custodianship.
Yes he does and is working through things at the moment. He thinks at the moment that the car isnt recognising that it is in Park so it won’t start….watch this space..Welcome and nice that someone is taking on a Project right from the start.
Have you turned the engine over by hand from the crankshaft pulley and everything feels good ?
Does your mechanic have a remote starter button that can be attached to the starter motor ?
As above a good diagnostic check and check the basics.
Check the wiring on the clutch position sensor. You can also interegate the clutch wear and see if your getting an implausible range message or similar depending on the software your using.Yes he does and is working through things at the moment. If your using launch or similar the there is a gear relearn option.
There isnt a park selection on the F1 gearbox. With the igntion on its either neutral 1st or reverse are your only options. If you can get N showing in the display it wont start.
If it is showing 1 and you try to starr the car then providing the f1 pump has primed and holding pressure then it should auto select neutral and allow a start.
When you unlock the car and ooen the drivers door you should hear a wirring noise which is the F1 pump priming. If it doesnt then that needs fault finding first as nothing else upstream will work without the pump working.
Progress!Current update on where we are..battery replaced..F1 fuse blown (unfortunately not the issue!) so replaced, relay for the F1 wasn’t working so got one in transit at the moment…watch this space!
