I am not an expert but it looks like Thaï to me, so I guess Tompelli is from Thaïland :)
Got it in one ecarca, Prachin Buri or Hua Hin in Thailand - you are either good at recognising Thai text or Chang beer!
I worked in Nantong for 3 years & I would be petrified to take a Maserati out in Chinese traffic. Thailand too is full of surprises with trucks with no lights, cars or motorcycles going the wrong way, U-turns from the slow lane etc. China still scared me more than Thailand because of the "silent assassin" e-bikes LOL

I went to Thailand only once but it looked Thaï. I also do a bit of thaï boxing once in a while ;)
I have no idea on how to read or what it means though, I am struggling enough with Chinese characters LOL

Shanghai is better than Nantong but it is quite an "experience" still. Anyway, I'm used to it after more than 7 years here and about 6 driving. The good news is that I drive normally and properly when I go back to Europe or when I drive in the US or elsewhere, so not that bad LOL
In any case, their driving is killing me. There are so many new drivers every year, what can you do anyway besides to try to be patient...

Hi Parisien,
Bought the car in 2009, when it had 36K Km on the clock. They tell me there are only 9 - 3200's in Thailand & at GBP 175,000 new I can understand why. As it is, I paid about GBP 49K for a 5 year old car, which was first registered in 2004? So I am at a loss where it was for at least 2 years. It was purchased originally from the Maserati dealers by Nicolaas G. Pierson a Dutch business man who's father was well known banker/politician in Indonesia.
I have had the usual learning curve on how to react to low oil pressure & stop engine lights - have to really understand what is going on under the bonnet.
I work away a lot & the car has been unused for almost a whole year. Started to get a squeal from the water pump & decided to get an indie to repair the pump ( I mean what could possibly go wrong?). Pump repaired incorrectly & the pulley wobbled & sheared the cam belt mangling 8 exhaust valves. So after about 3 months in the garage, will soon be time to be back on the road.

I quite like the Chinese system, going from A to B just draw a straight line & follow it! Was pleasantly surprised at the number of quality cars there though, never seen so many Bentleys.

Looking at the heads reckon the head gaskets must have been well shot. Was there any corrosion in the gallery's ?

Hi Phil,
Didn't have any symptoms of head gaskets gone & they haven't mentioned any other damage - I will ask them. I try to take all of this as after the fact (but still worth it) maintenance.

Just reading further back and seeing that the car spent a lot time laid up. The main reason that coolant needs changing every 2 years to stop corrosion taking place.

I was hanging out at the track this afternoon, and had the luck to check out a Pagani Zonda R. Price in China: 45 000 000 CNY! That's 5.5M EUR!
There is good business, thus good money, factor in the number of people and you understand why it's the second market for Ferrari, the first for Bentley and Rolls I believe, etc.

Ouch! These valves look like they had better days ;)
Good the car is up and running now.

All credit to you Tompelli for getting the repairs done, we all learn the hard way sometimes and getting the pump done badly is just one of those lessons..!!
