Gents, so we have our running order....Please go over the list and make sure you are happy with your slots. I think I have sltted everyone who has asked for certain times.

Everyone gets 3 sessions with the option and more if they want as I have left one spare place on each group. You will also see that the last two sessions are a free for all. Reason for this is that we know from experience that cars will have had enough and start drifting away before the end.

The first group have to go straight to the track and onto the pit straight when they turn up. I would suggest getting there 08:00/08:15 latest....

Properly excited now. Been on to my insurers (Axa) who have confirmed that as long as I'm not being paid and the event is not for a company then I'm insured - result :thumb1:

I'm aiming to leave Leeds around 4.30 which should get me to Hinckley around 7 traffic permitting. I'll then be searching out food and beverage about 8. Who else is at the hotel who might be around? Where's best to meet?

How did you describe to them? As soon my insurers heard that it is not on a road they refused. Annoying as my Noble obviously has track day insurance but my GTS doesn't.

Gents remember you all need to be parked up before 08:30 ....... If you aren't you will struggle to get in......If you have a late session and wnat to come later that is OK but you will still need a brief before being let out on track.......08:15 would be ideal....If you don't get there that early you will be queuing for ages and miss the designated route for track cars.....that shuts at 08:30...

Remember you need you headlights on and your pass shown in the window to get to the designated route.

Ooooh, that's a skanky-early start, Andy. Suddenly I remember it from last year now  I'll meet you all at the track. I raced to get to the hotel last year, arrived as you were leaving, had time for a splash and dash and then chased you all back up the road in the direction I'd just blatted up from.

I'll be away around 2pm, by the way. I need to get my sh!t together for a work trip leaving on Sunday morning.

Took the advice from elsewhere on here and said it was a charity run on the proving ground where punters donated to get a ride but that there was no racing involved. They asked a couple of questions about whether or not it was private land (I said yes which seemed to be the right answer), was I being paid etc. and then confirmed it was OK.

I suspect it depends on the insurer - I was pretty surprised they said yes.

Hope who ever is controlling the event cars entry knows their cars...otherwise you could end up with a field of Volvo's and Sabbs if they just rely on the headlights being on! ;o)

It is early and has swayed my decision to come up on the Friday night now!

Admiral and A-Plan (although I forget the underwriter) have been hopeless for me for "track-day" cover. I went with a day policy from Morris last year.

Circuit layout:

bruntingthorpe-sprint.jpg

We will drive the 'Sprint Circuit'. Bruntingthorpe starts with a fast left hander at the end of the pit straight. It's easy to turn into this too early and run wide on the exit. This isn’t a recommended technique as heading towards the 747 parked near the outside of the corner isn’t ideal... Stay out to the right, turn in late, and this corner can be taken flat. Move back to the left along the straight, as next up is a fairly open 90 degree right hander onto a short straight, leading into a right, left, right series of corners with proper race-track curbs. Too fast into here will compromise your exit (full power) onto the airfield’s main runway. This is VERY wide and dull until a 900 bhp GTR breezes past like you are standing still. Totally flat until braking for the final section - this has in the past been tricky to spot in a sea of cones, but should be better this year. The two 90 degree right handers at the end of the runway lead back onto the pit straight and are the slowest corners of the track. If you don't feel they are the slowest corners, then Mr F Crud will happily explain the route back to the pits. Cars are frequently queuing just around the last corner - it's ssllooww...

Chap who I met last week with the GTS was telling me he had a GTR before. His description was that 'I'd been shopping in Aldi, and had just tried Waitrose'. Made me laugh

http://moris.co.uk/ will do single event track day insurance for around £70-£80 for a Maserati.

The excess will be around £1k.

Sounds about right. I paid more but iirc that was based on market value.

Travelling up in the morning M11 A14 fill up at Kettering, works well for me...

I'll be M11 / A14 as well, Newton. What sort of time would you plan on being at Kettering?

It's worth noting that should one feel tempted to explore alternative routes back to the pits a helpful gentleman will be along shortly after your arrival to explain the manner in which one might depart the circuit. But he was undeniably courteous.

Pretty sure you were not demonstrating the fastest route, no? More the scenic, gentleman's tour?

Assuming I have things sorted and arriving 10-30 - 11 ish where would I head to?

Not on the list but happy to pick up some spare slots after a sighting lap etc.
