Hi all. Thanks to Drew for popping onto the GTROC forum (and spotting we have a new club forum now).
It was a pleasure to be next to your club this year. Admittedly we got in each others way a few times but it was ok.

Everytime I pulled onto the straight, it became second nature to check left for a GTR rocket piling through at what felt like relatavistic speeds (compared to me) ;)

Password is evo. It's the same video that was pulled from YouTube - on the previous page to that, the driver is complaining about how poor the organisation was, and not getting a lanyard to drive etc. He'd also been cautioned by their other members about going out in the morning without taking passengers. A donation has been demanded from him :D

Maybe he helped himself to the food bank as well whilst he was there...and today he left his job to sign on just before he sneeks into the soup kitchen run by the Salvation Army for his supper...

Personally I think he was not invited to be part of the track day passenger rides and was not at the briefing and had no desire to take passengers.

He misunderstood the requirements for a lanyard. A lanyard is not so you can just go out on track - a lanyard is so you can go out on track and take passengers.

You will always get someone who wants to take advantage no matter what measures you out in place.

Remember the guy that went in his VW golf out onto a live race track?

To far shifted to the blue was it? ;)

I spent all day in the pits, at the Kawasaki stand, with the cars and bikes for the shout and had one lap of the track which was the warm up lap in the red GTR before the shootout. My car is not well, hence not taking part this year.....

By the way, who's blond twin daughters went out in the GTR? I was talking to their mum after and she said he husband was driving a maserati.

Thanks to Mark for keeping us all awake with his exhaust :thumb3:
On the subject of passes, all drivers and helpers get in with a track pass and have to be a club member. I email the passes out quite late to make sure they are not abused.
John said I could invite friends and I do but they get a form with the £10 entry fee. My white primera was in the track parking (as my GTR is not running well) but I donated £40 litres of fuel for the drivers. Just to show some of the cars parked are not driving but are helping. I still think that there are too many cars behind the track though that are not taking part.
On the subject of not taking passengers, I am absolutely gobsmacked. A real disgrace and I would like to find out where they got their pass from?
Do we need to organise a club rep email chat to give john and chris some feedback on things that could be improved? I had a notepad on our table for anyone taking part to leave me comments for improvements to be made for next year (most of them for me to action!).

Hi Dave, another good year this year...Got to see you even though it was a brief chat. Lets hope it happens again next year as currently John is lloking for another partner to take it on as it looks like Asda may well pull the plug. Waiting for him to confirm.

The twins would be mine Dave, one of the twins had great delight in overtaking me on the straight in her GTR run, although he did say your dad was a good driver as he couldn't find a gap in the bends to pass which was nice.

I have heard about Asda too. Would be a great shame.

2 years ago my son went in a 700ish bhp GTR that was in the queue behind me. He told the guy I was driving the car in front and to waste me on the track. The GTR driver duly obliged!

I'm sure she told the driver pretty early on Mark, about what your son said and then put it on Facebook !!!!

That's a good scheme. Still think stickers on the day for the windscreen has to be the favourite way ahead, as no-one will be able to get hold of one before the event, and only from a team leader on the day. That should go a long way to stopping the abuse.

Stickers on the windows would work great if we had either a track steward or members from the gates to man the track entrace before the pits. Stop the non passenger carrying cars getting anywhere near the track in the first place. That way we can still have rolling starts when joining the track proper after the pits/gates.

That video was taken around 3 to 3.15 pm in the afternoon. Its me behind him at the starting gate with no 17 in the car with me. I remember the evo forcing me to stay wide on the right hander under the plane tail.

Post number 76 on the lancerregister in answer to the evo driver being asked who's the video was say he will take the 5th ! That rather suggests that he knows who the other driver is. He also states that he had a copy of it after it was taken down from youtube earlier in the thread.

If you look at the video at 8.22 you can see the evo coming out of one of the gates further down than the VXR's. White flags next to the gate he came out of but i'm not sure who's gate that was. Looks like its 3 or 4 gates up from the start. While it's not the 350z it appears that this chap knows who was driving the 350z.

We know the driver's name, email address, Facebook/Instagram/Twitter accounts, car registration, home town, who he works for, even the name of his girlfriend.

I'm sure he will do the decent thing and make the appropriate gesture of a donation to the charity. His 'mates' should be encouraging this...
