Unbelievable, I hope he sees the error of his ways and donates.
I remember a Porsche with its registered blanked off, I wonder if he was doing the same?
A word about the stickers though, they should be stuck to the inside of the car to prevent 'gormless to$$€rs' pealing them off.

The earlier sessions on track were noticeably busier traffic wise; I'm shocked at this parasite in a Datsun seeing it as nothing more than a freebie... I did do a couple of laps for SM members and I blagged a lap for my three in Drew's limo from Andy during a slack moment but I feel at well over 100 miles of track time that was not too cheeky (I don't know how many paid laps that works out to)...

Same as me, if the car was waiting in the gate, the family came in and we bunged some cash in the pot. The only other laps I went out in on the day were one in Morebeans and one in Newton's!

Phil, and remember, you were in the car with a paying passenger utilising a spare seat in the back- these other scum bags didn't.

I really have no problem with Forum members who have spent time organising and bringing there cars to have a few laps in others cars for free.....We raised a shed load of money and everyone put their hands in their pockets...You all gave you time and cars......which is more than enough so why would you not have a few laps in the cars...Not a problem.....unlike this chap who just used it as a track day..

A lot of people do it on track days. As they perhaps want to sell their car later and don't want proof from photos that it was on a track day so hide their number plate.

Exactly - the French guys to a man taped off their plates last year in Modena at the AutoDromo. It's pretty normal practice. Hardly worth it for the Masers though, since we all know the cars and who has/hasn't been on the track with us!

I got nowhere near those speeds, but did peel off a few layers of front tyre tread :)
Still amazed at how well the QP handles.

Oh and any chance of a shirt, when the next order goes in?

You need a set of track rims & tyres - it's too heavy to risk ruining your road tyres. I bought a set on eBay three years ago, had the rims refurbished so they look nice, and I'm still running the 'free' tyres that came with them. Perfect for track use :)

No problem with the shirt - an Australian request has arrived, so we can easily sort it with that order. Size? Which logo? Colour?

I think the point is less about the money and him having a free go but the issue of safety. Having had no briefing he would not know the rules nor the right of way for trucks and could have caused an accident and got the entire event shutdown.

There were plenty of cars in the track parking area that I saw that never went on track as well. What was all that about? Was it friends just emailing the pdf pass to all their mates??

Stickers next year are a must in my opinion.

The PDF pass also allowed people in without charge, so I guess that was the incentive for the freeloading to start with. I'm not convinced that making the entry free for track cars is necessary; who here wouldn't throw ten quid into the charity to get in and still drive? I fully agree - windscreen stickers are an absolute must, on safety grounds alone.

Well.... you didn't 'have' to pay with a track pass, but many of us did, and donated food too.

I know just how difficult it can be organising events...however I suggest that one sticker for approved track cars and one to confirm you have had the safety briefing presented after the briefing for the second.

Don't really see how its going to help. The stewards aren't going to step out in front of a speeding Datsun if there's no sticker. Of course, eventually, they'll have to come in, but unless they're ejected, can't they just go out again.

Also, we have fare more than 6 cars, but only 6 (IIRC) lanyards were permitted per gate. If there are one sticker per car, then there's still nothing to stop someone turning up, doing the briefing to get the sticker and being a ******. Though, of course, couldn't just get one emailed to a mate :)

Eh? When you join the track they wave you on or stop if there is a Lorry. A simple sticker and or Lanyard check would mean you are told to exit back to gate or field if not present. It's not hard is it?

We had exactly the same type of system in Modena at the circuit and alot of other track days have had wristbands to determine driver and/or passenger.

If the stickers are given to the team leaders at the safety briefing, then THEY become responsible for handing them out to their known drivers. Stickers cost virtually nothing in the scheme of things, so it would be no problem to give say 30/40/50 to each club on the day. There's only need for that one sticker, as it could only be obtained from a team leader after the briefing.

The lanyards are still required... And whilst it's possible that someone could turn up as part of a club, get the sticker and then just selfishly drive round without taking passengers, I'm not convinced they would be welcome back in their club.

Yes, I'm perfectly happy that the pit lane stewards will be able to stop and eject cars without stickers. They easily stop the lanes when they want to let trucks through, and a big bright sticker on the windscreen shouldn't be too hard to miss.

Hi all. Thanks to Drew for popping onto the GTROC forum (and spotting we have a new club forum now).
It was a pleasure to be next to your club this year. Admittedly we got in each others way a few times but it was ok.
Thanks to Mark for keeping us all awake with his exhaust :thumb3:
On the subject of passes, all drivers and helpers get in with a track pass and have to be a club member. I email the passes out quite late to make sure they are not abused.
John said I could invite friends and I do but they get a form with the £10 entry fee. My white primera was in the track parking (as my GTR is not running well) but I donated £40 litres of fuel for the drivers. Just to show some of the cars parked are not driving but are helping. I still think that there are too many cars behind the track though that are not taking part.
On the subject of not taking passengers, I am absolutely gobsmacked. A real disgrace and I would like to find out where they got their pass from?
Do we need to organise a club rep email chat to give john and chris some feedback on things that could be improved? I had a notepad on our table for anyone taking part to leave me comments for improvements to be made for next year (most of them for me to action!).

Really appreciate you taking time to post on here Dave :)

The Nissan 350Z driver who helped himself apparently received the track pass via a Facebook chat. There's no suggestion it came from your club!

Sorry I did not mean that. I was just pointing out how carefully I controlled it. I did have requests for passes from the public as we had the event on facebook and will not be happy if it one of ours. Perhaps John should photoshop the club logos on the track passes so we can track where they go? I nearly did it on mine and will do next year.

That's a good scheme. Still think stickers on the day for the windscreen has to be the favourite way ahead, as no-one will be able to get hold of one before the event, and only from a team leader on the day. That should go a long way to stopping the abuse.

I think the biggest problem was getting in each others way. I'm in no way blaming anyone as we're not formula one trained pit stop experts but some of the other gates were not a busy as other's.

My take on it is that whoever was the most popular ( possibly the GTRoc group) should be positioned in the first gate. The next popular down the other end and so on so that you minimise conflict.
Another thing is hand signals from Catman told me where and how to park when I was coming in. Like the young lady on the GTR gate she was very clear. We ended up sometimes double parked. I'm only nit-picking here on otherwise a slick operation.
Next year, I'll be happy to get involved more.
