Looks gorgeous and should squash Cali T and N/A prices even further south. Even then Iain's Cali will still have been a steal!

I think it will hit the Cali T prices more.
I can't see the Cali prices going much lower quickly- they are great VFM in many ways. There aren't many more on sale
Than 458s. Even high mileage ones are 85+

...and apparently as a condition of the seven year service package, all Californias' will be rebadged Nebraska at the next service centre visit to reflect their reduced status.

Cracks me up when they call it entry level. 200k, 0-60 in 3.5 and 600 BHP. It's getting silly.
i think the mclaren vs Ferrari debate is a mute pint for this car- they don't do anything in that segment.

All this horsepower 600+ BHP and 1000bhp+ hypercars for the road is getting ridiculous.

Even Richard Meaden wrote an article in Evo recently saying the same & how cars like the MX5 & GT86 are just as 'evo' or even more so than these BHP monsters. I find it boring and not really interested in any of these cars. Who cares what is better.

I agree. Its a bit like computers. They have all the tech and the ability to go further but they just hold it back to convince people with more money than sense to buy the latest model. People should buy what they like the look of and is fun to drive regardless of age and BHP. One of the most fun to drive cars I have had is the Boxster S, and I sold that for less than the cost of a carbon cup holder in the 458 on the options list :O

Live the moment Iain, in a year or two the 0-60 will be down to 2 secs then where do you go from there to sell hypercars?....oh hang on, electric!

Anyway, Portofino is the name of a model of Sunseeker (that I've lusted over) surely they'd know that?! (Not that I've lusted after it, but that it's a model of boat)

Therfore, why name a sports car after a boat? Maybe it doesn't handle all that we'll...?

Don't knock it until you try it
#Essexboy #viagrainyoureyemakesyoulookhard

The last time someone said that to me I had to make sure the soap was on a rope :)
You won't know that Dad is from Bethnal Green, that I used to work in Harlow and my best mate is from Loughton.
Oh yes, once went to that club at the Wake Arms roundabout - what was it called "Shi*ty Limits" was it?
I know all about dodgy nights out in Essex - but probably not as much as Barrymore knows I bet :D

Good point matt. And they will also be deadly silent and self driving!

A curious discovery made by the police at the time was that despite Barrymore being a smoker, there were no ashtrays in the house.
Turns out he preferred to put his fags out in the pool.

I find it curious that people are commenting about the HP arms race in a negative manner. Weren't we all complaining that the Ghibli was 100HP down on the Giulia a year ago and urging Maserati to do something about it?

On £200k being the price of an entry point Ferrari, don't forget that prior to the build up to the Brexit vote the GBP to Euro exchange rate was reasonably steady at 1.4 Euros to the pound. We are now looking at almost parity, its 1.07 or so. That's about a 25% increase in price so the price would have been in the £160k mark without the currency fluctuations.

Of course Portofino is where all of the Glitteratzi have their Italian Riviera houses and used to go for the sun. Now its full of tourists and wannabes. So maybe it fits. If you want a real Ferrari it'll cost you £300k, but we'll let you into the club with this cheaper one for £200k ;)

There was actually an interesting column in last month's Evo about performance car inflation. Can't remember whether I mentioned it on here or not already... anyway, if you look at the real prices of new versions of cars like the 911 Turbo or M3, they have actually gone down in real terms over the past 15 or 20 years. But Ferraris have gone up - there has been significant inflation in the new price of a 488 vs. a 360 for example. They're putting up their prices because they can.

F355 was £99k new IIRC and in those days option packages were modest.

Can't believe all car prices now - £90k starting price for a new M5. Take a hike, £35k for a lower model and £50k+ for a 2013 GT Sport works better for me.
