first saw one in the US, on a beautiful summers evening in Beverley Hills ; I think this is its natural habitat. still amazing value, not so long ago these were over 50K and if you want the 4 seats, not much to match it. mm

    2007 Gransport - now £25995

I have seen the 911 described in lots of different ways over the years, but never before as a "mass produced euro box" !! I have a 997 (although a gen II) manual C2 coupe. I have also had a number of Lancias, Alfas and the 3200 assetto corsa and have been to Modena and completely "get" the...

    2007 Gransport - now £25995

Jack, I really enjoyed your Youtube postings - I like your honesty, based on actual ownership experiences. As a long time Esprit fan I was interested to hear about your experiences with that car. Your views on the Lancia were very interesting too Keep up the good work!! MM

One car you wished you had never sold

911sc guards red with black pinstripe interior (1979 coupe) - beautiful iconic classic and the only one I have ever wanted back - all the others I was glad to get rid of at the time!!

    Used 3200 feature...Pistonheads.

There is a post in the comments section of the article that sums up 3200 ownership very well and that is that you must really want to own one to put up with the many, many issues that will arise. If you are not totally committed, then the ownership experience will soon become a series of...

    Gransport against Porsche 997

Very well put Cheshire - I think true petrolhead enlightenment is being able to appreciate something about all marques. We are all different, with our own views, which is of course a good thing. mm mm

    Gransport against Porsche 997

yes it would be interesting to compare how much it would cost to keep a GS moving for 12k miles, using it as a daily.

GranTurismo is now ten years old

classic car insurance, lots of depreciation and quirky looks, what's not to like!! Once overheard someone asking what was a Maserati- reply, Italian Jaguar. I was a bit insulted at first and thought they should have said Italian Aston, but on reflection they were probably right. GT reminds me...

    Gransport against Porsche 997

Agreed and seeing an Italian exotic is always an event. but there is a reason the 997 is so popular and that's because of reports like the Car mag one that makes many spend their "hard earnt" on something perceived to be the best in class. mm

    Gransport against Porsche 997

having seen 3 ghiblis and a GT whilst in town for a couple of hours today the exclusivity card is wearing a bit thin!! still love to see them though! mm

    The new Maserati GranTurismo

the exterior still looks OK but the inside was described as dated a number of years ago. When you sit in a new car now you see how time has caught up with the GT. That said, as a quirky classic for not much money its a great option. mm

    Gransport against Porsche 997

http://www.carmagazine.co.uk/car-reviews/long-term-tests/porsche/porsche-911-carrera-used-997-long-term-test-review-2015/ check out the report in Car magazine at the 6 month ownership. Unfortunately the GS gets a bit of a kicking against a 997. Seems a bit unfair really as one is a 2009 reg...

    lake End Autos Marlow

Ok, thanks all - that's very helpful, I agree that if you get a good car its worth paying a premium. What is annoying is if you pay a top end price and get a poor or average car. That's what gives dealers a bad name {although you cannot blame them for trying to maximise profit!). It was...

1977 Merak SS at Aston Workshops

There is no doubt prices are softening now, which seems to be due to a number of factors, including general economic uncertainty and buyers taking stock of cars that are now commanding material asking prices, which until recently had been viewed with indifference. I was considering a Ferrari...
