It doesn't look like as if it's actually an x-pipe or just two pipes kinked together. Does it allow exhaust gases to move from one side to another?
I’ve got some potentially upsetting news....
£70...how did you get that bargain or have you had it custom made??

Apologies I never would off thought there was a hole in the centre section ha ha.
Perfect do it yourself?
I beg to differ, the hole has everything to do with performance and sound. The flow of exhaust gasses forms a series of standing waves, if hole is too small the gases won't interfere with each other and therefore won't give the desired effect of an x-pipe.I don't think the hole size will have any impact on your pops and crackles. Would love to see the ebay links as well

Ahhh, yes, pops and crackles are due to petrol escaping into a hot exhaust. But it helps if the flow is disrupted and drags unburnt fuel into the exhaust.I hesitate to disagree (cos you're probably right), but surely the pops and crackles themselves are caused by fuel combusting in the exhaust. This is normally muffled in the silenced x-pipe. No silencing, more pops / crackles.
Totally agree about the *flow* though, and purging and anything else.
