Miles if we went for a hotel in Kent we could have a forum BLAST through Blackwall Tunnel!!!!, maybe even the Medway as well.... Pass the tissues!!!!

Given the time of year, and therefore the uncertainly of the weather, some sort of motoring related activity seems to point, like last year, to indoor karting.

Last year we went to Reading, a great facility, but a bit of a hassle to get to with a track of 450m and electric karts.

Looking around the Greater London area for other indoor venues seems to point towards the Docklands Raceway, a 650m track with 10hp LPG karts.

The facilities look better than at Reading.

I've made an enquiry to see whether they're okay for the 10th and what the options / costs are.

I'll let you know in due course, but if anyone has any other suggestions in the meantime?...........

i just came from the docklands and used the blackwall tunnel, just dropped off other half to the o2 and the blackwall tunnel was busy, never went above 30mph, and those roads were full of cameras......
not a bad track that at docklands but the parade from ace wont be like last year, itll be a lot slower and busier.....what you think newton?? your in that neck of the woods

Agree the route from Ace to Doclands would be very much a parade for the forum whatever route you took so it may as well take in significant London landmarks, with probably 30 + cars this year we could even arange for an 'escort' from the plod if we got it sorted and this often includes bike rats clearing trafic lights etc. to keep the pack together....

We could make the real 'blast' the onward journey to wherever!

Frank no worries flying in I'd have no problem picking you and +1 up from Docklands or Stanstead and having a car full...

It was nice last year heading into quiet villages just outside london, the restaurant was lovely and the roads were pretty much empty....

Can I vote for proper karts using combustible fuel after my kart's battery died last year during the final. Thanks.

And, is it really possible to have a Police escort with outriders? Whilst it would be pretty awesome, but I'd be amazed if it was possible to arrange.

Okay, it's time to get the basics agreed.

This is set for the weekend of the 10th December. It'll be a Saturday start with overnight into Sunday.

If everyone is basically happy with last years format, it'll be..

Ace.
Karting.
Hotel to check in.
Meal.
Back to hotel for nightcaps.
Sunday blast for those that want.

I need comments / thoughts on the following please...

Are you coming? Partner / mate?
Are we going to the same hotel as last year.
Are we therefore eating in Marlow? Same restaurant or another nearby?
If same hotel, and knowing that people want petrol karting, we'll need a new venue. Loz has proposed MK karting. This would be a drive up from Ace, and then a return to Marlow for the hotel, so there'd be some mileage (and time) involved. Details here - post 183...

Happy to go with the flow, the hotel last year was the business, maybe change the evening meal? It was nice but very crammed in.

Happy with Loz's carting but how far is it from Ace? If its more than an hour then an hour back to the hotel, I feel its would be a bit much, as alot of people have already driven a couple of hours to get to Ace.

Matt there is another Daytona Karting in Esher , but i dont know what its like , maybe its the same type of Venue worth looking at on teir website if it helps logistics , i only mentioned the MK one because i know its petrol karts and know it reasonably well (oh well i fess up .... its half a mile away ) like you happy to go with the flow .............wouldn't mind a casino in close proximity to the hotel ...might as make a helll of a weekend of it

Competetive as ever Dan , Cheated eh lifes a bummer sometimes , you'll probably run out of petrol next time ,hehe we'll have to ask Paul (Maserati) if he can arrange the police escort , he might have some influence in that dept

Outside karting is best, aslong as it does not rain of course. I am happy to go with what the masses want.
