The tracks are too tight for the cars. I'm not one for street circuits in any discipline of motorsport. Yes, I get that you can't make a mistake by hitting a concrete wall but it doesn't allow a racer to gt to the limit and they go at 9/10ths* and they bounce around due to the bumpy surface, can't be good on the drivers' comfort.

(*IOM TT Circuit excluded! They just remove their brains at the top of Bray Hill.)
It's disconcerting how wide these F1 bodies are now...I mean, the cars are just huge...

They’re long due to the ev units but they’re actually narrower than most of the F1 cars of the 80s/90s

Not the most exciting race, Max still an **** if a fast one - nice the team giving back to him to do as he's told.

Summer break so no more until 25th Aug which is handy as my holidays are 08-23 Aug so no panic about missing anything :)

Hamilton cost me points this weekend, instead of pushing on for 3rd (my prediction) he took fastest lap from Max (my prediction) - Barsteward

Same here, however I should have kept Max on pole as I wasn’t aware they don't count penalties for pole. That cost me 10 points. I see Dan K. did really well the last couple of races in the league.

I double checked that rule as soon as I heard there was chance of him taking gearbox penalties so left him thankfully and I had him to win, all my other predictions went sour

So normal format, practise today, practise and quali tomorrow and race on Sunday.

Anyone betting against the Belgian racing under a Dutch flag winning his home (ish) race?

For some random reason we have an RB18 on display at a local Mall - very exciting to see the car but I’m blown away by the proportions - when I last saw an F1 car in real life they were so much smaller. It is an absolute barge - the RB18 is about 5.6m long and just over 2m wide, that’s quite a bit bigger than the QPV which is already a really large car. It is an absolutely beautiful car to see in the flesh (as is the RB18 ;))

The other thing that struck me was the extremely long nose and how much it progresses forward of the front wheels, especially if you compare it to the 80’s racers. If you stand in front of it there is this never ending stretch of slender nose to the cockpit - a bit like like sitting on the floor looking up at Nadia Auermann‘s legs. As a Jack operator seeing this barrel down in you in the pits it must be quite intimidating. The cockpit is super narrow with only just room for some hands on the steering device (a wheel it is not).

Long noses have been around a while, drivers legs need to be in the crash structure behind the front axle, not like that back in the 70s, 80s and even 90s

Yes but it has gotten out of proportion they really need to cut down on the size, there is just not enough space on track to navigate these barges. Front and rear impact is less of an issue than t-boning and if you reckon that one of these can pierce Armco you’d hate to think of what might happen.

I've gone for a Gentleman's Set with Max, the difficulty is in deciding who to put on the podium, safety cars and where Bottas will finish.

I've got Ricciardo in my team but he won't race, so will I get Lawson's points since he's substituting?
I also noticed that Sargeant got into Q3 and the top 6 are all from different manufacturers, not seen that ever. Normally F1 grid are 2x2 with each row being the same manufacturer.

I don't think they have brought the safety car to this GP, ever incident has resulted in a red flag, at least two seasons have had 3 in the session, maybe Bert Mylander is still on holiday
