3200 Aircon

Hi all , me again, I plan to book the 3200 into my local aircon place for a diagnosis of a problem that the compressor is not kicking in (leak check really) , I have looked at the diagram's on the eurospares website but my high and low pressure point's don't resemble the schematic. Its a 2001 model and there is one port to the left of the engine and one underneath the expansion tank. Which is high and which is low please?
Thank's all
Loz

I am not sure which is which, but the connectors are different so you cant get them mixed up, I think the one under the expansion tank is high pressure and the one down the wing a bit is low pressure.

It'll be the compressor or its clutch assembly Lozz, around about £275 on the net.. Bit of a faff to fit but not that difficult really!

Isn't there also the possibility of a failed temperature sensor? Sure I read on here somewhere that if these go it stops the compressor kicking in? Would certainly be a cheaper fix if it is!

Could be all sorts of causes. If the system is empty of gas the compressor won't kick in. Aircon place should be able to diagnose.

Cheer's guy's, had the car hooked up to the machine today, which only recovered 170g of refrigerant, the good news is, while it was hooked up he test ran the system and it all kicked in working OK, the bad news is the machine detected a leak so it was pointless refilling. Ran out of time by then so I need to take it back and put some dye through to see where the leak is at. I'm pretty happy, strangely enough. Lol

To 99% it will be the Sanden SD7V16 compressor that is leaking.
I will refurb mine this winter with a sealing kit. Will post the result as soon it is done.

Get the garage to fill the system with nitrogen and listen for the leak.

Condenser as well as the pump are the usual suspects and you will have to remove your OSF headlight and replace the dryer as that will now be saturated. If you don’t, your AC will kick in and work but you will get no cold air.

Watch the wheeler dealers on the 3200, ed repaired the ac on that, remember it being the condenser leaking and then drier changed was it would be saturated.

Like most things the access is the worst part!

I would consider DIY once system is emptied correctly and you know source of the leak, then after changing the components take it for a pressure test and recharge or call mobile ac tech after work is done.

Thank's guy's, yes I think that is a plan for me over the winter, replace the condenser, drier and compressor along with any other parts of the system I can find new, and vac test / refill in the new year.
