3200 Auto gear lever - Leather gaiter

Having spent most of Sunday cleaning and conditioning the leather, I've now started to tackle the "sticky bits" with a view to removing the coating. The most noticeable of these is the auto shift indicator plate on the right hand side of the leather gaiter which is badly wrinkled and very sticky to the touch. I don't want to start spraying oven cleaner around the delicate leather so removing it from the console is essential.

Can the gaiter and the shifter position indicator be removed with the centre console in place? If so, does is need to be pushed in and then wiggled out or pulled up and out?

Hope the above makes sense to someone other than me!!

Thanks,

Neil

i can check the manual but i wanted into the little contact switch under the gaiter a while ago and seem to recollect the complete dash needs to come out to get this out. I didnt do and opted for soem micro surgery through the gaiter which worked soi was off the hook

Thanks Davy,

I wasn't able to get it to come out so also opted for attacking it with cotton buds and "de-solve it". Managed to get all the goo off with a bit of patience and perseverance.
