Surely that says that you want a manual in the first place? I never got the point f having a 1,2,3 and a D on any auto car surely a normal auto is best mated to a cruiser/barge/wafter and not a sports car where you want to use engine braking and to be in the right gear coming out of a twisty?

No that's not correct..!! An auto is very good when in town use and can be operated as a manual if required..!! A manual can not..!! Most Masers have some form of Auto/Manual box these days, that's just how things are..!!

Have to say I think the auto box on the 32 is superb.....especially in sport. Very intuitive, responsive and smooth in town or the open road equally. Of course it cannot compare with the engine braking of a manual.........but with a little adjustment to driving style I can live with that fine given the other benefits of an auto.

I drove both before deciding I wanted a manual but as far as autos go, I found the 3200 to be an excellent auto and a good all rounder too
