Hi,

I have a pair of used 3200 cylinder heads, happy to sell both or singly.

I'm in Essex but can send anywhere.

Thanks!

Truth be told I am not sure. I got them in with a number of other parts which I bought to get hold of some bits for my race car, and have not yet inspected them closely - I just put them on here asap in case someone was in need. It looks to me that a couple of the valves on one head may be slightly bent but not to the extent it will damage guides or seats. I am not sure whether that could be just because of bad storage (sitting the head on the valve for example).
In the interests of full & frank disclosure I have also got the bottom end of an engine in among these parts but have not had a look at that at all yet.
But I can't see obvious signs of headgasket failure for example.
Hope that helps. If there is anything specific you would like me to look for I'll be happy to do so.
Thanks

Hi,

Hopefully if I've not been outfoxed there are four photos in this post. I will post a few more detailed ones shortly. In addition to the heads I have the cam carriers which I assume bolt on top. They have cam bridges and a number of buckets but I've not tallied them - it is possible they are not all there.

Thanks

OK, Conaero thanks for letting me know

I've now got some better photos loaded onto my computer. In sequence they are-

The cam carriers. Between the two there is one cam cap missing. There are also 21 cam buckets. There are no cams.

The heads - one has two valves bent and the other has four. Overall, there are four exhaust valves and two inlet valves bent. I think these are available from Superformance for about £50 each. There may be other sources.

There are close up photos of the bent valves. It looks like some of the bent ones at least have touched pistons. Presumably all six must have

I have also photographed the pistons in the bottom end of a couple of the pistons that looked to be marked by contact with the valves. The bottom end turns but I have no idea of the condition.

Thanks

They need a bit of sorting and a good clean, you would have to check the pistons are intact too, they have a good coming together, presumably cam belt/chain..!!

Thanks guys. I don't have the red covers though I do also have the aluminium cover that has 8 pipes shaped into it and sits in the vee.

I wondered about the cause of the valves bending. The bent ones certainly have touched pistons as the marks on the valves look like they correspond to the raised edges on the pistons. Those three pistons do have some marks on them. But that only accounts for six of the 24. - if the belt jumped then I'd expect even damage all over. I suppose belt failure rather than slipping? I was just surprised that there was not more widespread devastation if the belt failed with valves breaking off and being smashed up & down etc and heads and pistons being totally destroyed.

Thanks, it is indeed curious.

Here are some photos of the block. If anyone is interested in that and wants to come and strip the sump off to have a look, I'm o.k. with that.

looks like the cam belt snapped, there is a significant sign of impact on the pistons and the valves that are not seating have piston impact marks. might get away with replacing the damaged valves. always a bad thing for an engine, i have both scrapped and repaired engines like this and the amount of damage really depends on so many things its hard to tell. Best of luck to whoever takes this on, i am hoping i won't need to go this far, fingers crossed.
