Hi All,
Can anyone give me the name or contact details for the company ( I believe they are in Belgium) that will replace the lower front ball joints in your existing wishbones
Cheers
Ray

VPS are also another option.

They are cheaper than AS Motorsport and I think AS Motorsport buy the ball joint parts from VPS anyway. I just had 4x front wishbones refurbed for £950. Rudi at VPS can sort out DHL to pick up your control arms - its a pretty painless process and they have given really good customer service so far.

Very interesting, have you got pictures of the finished product?

A.S. Motorsport don't buy the parts to refurbish. They send the control arms complete to VPS who do the refurbishment work for them. VPS confirmed this during recent communications.

Discussed last month if you recall.

I don’t recall you having had them done and me asking for pictures, no.
I read your very interesting comment as if it were the first time you've heard of VPS. There are pictures (not mine) on Maseratilife if you care to search. A front lower refurbished by VPS.

Very interesting ;)

Perhaps you should be a bit clearer on what you are inferring.

The views I have expressed are my own, and given in good faith. I have dealt with AS personally and found them to be very helpful, I have not dealt with VPS personally (and have no need to as I don’t own a Coupe) and have said that it would be interesting to see how that works.

As such I asked Rich for more details.

Actually, don’t bother, it’s a waste of everyone’s time.

Not sure what the cryptic inferences are about from MaserMM, but here's some pics of the arms from VPS. I'm really happy with them.

My arms had some surface corrosion so the surface is not perfect after vapour blasting, but still really presentable and about 3k cheaper than buying new!

Okay,
I have spoken to Rudi at VPS and UPS will be picking up my wishbone on Monday (today is Saturday) He was very knowledgeable in the fact that they manufacture the ball joint. It appears that the wishbone is machined and the new unit is screwed in. The cost is 250 euros plus carriage either way which is 60 euros, plus another 40 euros, as it has to be treated as a temporary import as we are no longer in the EU (not my fault;)). This 40 euros applies for one or a lorry load its still the same price!! I will let you all know what its like when I get it back in around 7 days time. From looking at the photos and what others have said I suspect it will be better than new. I did actually remove the ball joint from one a while ago and to be honest, it was rubbish! (original factory).

Rudi is a good guy - glad he's sorted you.

It really is excellent that we now have a reasonably priced way to repair our control arms. Together with the reasonably priced contactless Throttle body (and pedal sensor) (made by Davy one here) it seems like many of the most scary issues with the 3200 are finally being put to bed.

Once this trickles through to the general sports car buying public, might we see demand and values increasing? All the 3200 'buying guides' published by magazines pretty much need to be rewritten with these advances over the last few years in my opinion

Yes Rich,
I have the postage labels already, and he doesn't want any money until its done!
Its always good to find cheaper, better, alternatives. Other things that I have found in the past are that the old Villiers Motorcycle Company will reline your Handbrake shoes for a fraction of the cost of new ones, and the Rear Wheel Bearing Cassette can be dismantled and machined to take larger balls for just over £100 instead of over a grand for a new one. all of this along with remanufactured Brake Discs is all positive stuff !
