3200 Headlamp Bulbs

Afternoon everyone.

With the days getting shorter, it's about time I changed the candles that double for my dipped beam headlamp bulbs for something that at least gives me a fighting chance of seeing what's coming.

As us 3200 folk don't have the benefit of xenon lamps, does anyone have a recommendation of what type of bulbs do a decent job in their 3200?

I've used Osram Nighbreaker in other car but is there anything better out there?

Thanks all

Stuart, I was just going to suggest the same as the Osram's. The other option is to go HID but I personally wouldn't what with the Italian Electrics against us anyway :)

Cheers Phil & I agree about the HID - I'm sure that the Osram or something similar will seem like driving at midday compared with what I have at the moment!

Cheapo Ebay HID's made a massive difference in mine - way better than the Nightbreakers that they replaced and being lower wattage put less strain on the fragile electrics. No bulb failure lights triggered so didn't need any resistors etc.. - also got through an MOT in June with them fitted.

I fitted HID in my MK1 Golf this time last year. Given that the old units were H4 they too were very dim. The set I got from E-bay were plug and play into the existing loom with no cutting etc. Given the reduced consumption they draw I believe they should not impact on the delicat Italian electrics.

Only point to note is that cheaper bulbs are less robust to rapid temperature changes and therefore shatter easier.

Thanks Peter and with the difficulty of changing these bulbs, the longer the life the better.
