Spoke to the garage who serviced it last week who said it is a good car so fingers crossed.

Good luck with it today fella, it'll all be good!

I bought mine blind, saw it on the internet, called the seller up and put a deposit down. Train down a few days later, saw the car and paid the balance. Helped that I knew a bit about the car itself (as it had been on sale earlier that year) and had some great advice from Dicky.

Seems a little odd about how many threads there are on inspections and research and how to take care when buying one of these prestige cars.
Then also just how many have bought not only blind but on a whim!!!!
All have the same result BIG Smiles from that thunderous V8, glorious styling, exclusivity etc
Personally mine has cost me a few quid, currently it's broken down (nothing too serious just a starter motor) I haven't got time to fix it just yet.

But I love it!! I wouldn't swap it for another car, when I fire it up (after fixing it) and the neighbours curtains twitch as an Unsilenced V8 rolls down the drive, just about all its faults are forgiven - the rest are blown away once on the road!!!!

Buy one
It won't be cheap
You will love it

The anticipation is building. Inspection delayed until today. Get report Monday. Hopefully pick up Tuesday.

I've never even sat in a 3200. But with those looks and that noise it will be fine!

Thanks for the comments

Christ, you are a brave man not to even test drive one! I'm sure you will be happy but they're not for everyone...

...or sat in one. What if you are well above average height and your head doesn't fit, or well below average height and you can't reach the pedals!!
Unlikely I know, but would certainly like to have at least sat in one.

never sat in one! i must confess i did the same, bought mine without seeing, and never having driven one. I was blown away by it, even in the incredibly poor state it was in, i barely managed to get home in my car. It has been expensive and i don't think i have ever regretted buying it, its an amazing car on so many levels, i have had my car nearly 10 years now, and i still love it.

To be honest I think a test drive in these cars is a bit of a waste of time, the first drive isn't good, it took me a good week to get to know the car and begin to like it

I think that is often the case as a 20 min test drive is nowhere near enough time to get under the skin enough to know how good or bad it is. You can tell if it is a rotter or not for sure but not much else.

I can see why many manufacturer's do 24 test drives now. Not an option for used stuff though.

I never drove my 2007 4200 but sat as a passenger with the owner as he hasn't keen to let me drive it. I knew I wanted a 4200 CC regardless & as the car was virtually as new in all ways it was an easy decision & not an issue.

I've bought a few cars blind but more with potentially making a return & flipping it quick in mind so less risk. Although an SL55 I bought trade once nearly ruined me. Very quick flip on that one!

90% I have driven & knew it was good enough to purchase or not in short test drive. It helps to have driven so many cars in number & type. Gives you a nice feel how it should drive & if it is decent enough or not.

Inspection done and it's good news!

A couple of minor blemishes. Slight oil leak and Cambelt is due.

Both being sorted as we speak then I'm off to pick up the car direct from the specialist doing the work.

It's going to be two weeks since i paid the deposit so I'm itching to get in it and have a drive!

Glad you got it inspected. Buying a 3200 blind is for the brave. In fact I would recommend that performing brain surgery on your self would be safer :)

Enjoy the ride ;)
